Ask Slater: Changing Your Username

Hello and welcome to the first ‘Ask Slater’, our Support tech’s weekly column where he addresses questions commonly asked by our userbase!  Our first question comes from Mr. Tibbles* from Support (http://support.guildlaunch.com).

Mr. Tibbles writes:

“Dear Slater,

I named my account ‘Mr. Tibbles’ in honor of my noble cat, Mr. Tibbles, but he just bit me and I don’t like the name any more.  How can I change my username on the Guild Launch network?”

Mr. Tibbles,

That is an excellent question.  Fortunately, there is a very easy way to do this on your user profile!  You can get to your user profile by logging into your account on any site on the Guild Launch network – just click your current username in the upper right-hand corner of a site (like http://support.guildlaunch.com or http://www.theguildlife.com/ ) and you will be where you need to be.

Beneath your user avatar, there will be a link to ‘Edit Profile’.  Clicking that will bring you to the section for your Account Settings – there is a button to ‘Update Forum Name, Password, Email and Other Account Info’ which will bring you where you need to go.

From there, it’s as simple as clicking the ‘Edit’ button…

…updating your information and clicking the ‘Update’ link!

When changing your username, bear in mind that it is unique to all of Guild Launch: once you have changed it, that will free up the username for another person to register later.

If you have a specific question you think would be perfect for these articles, send us the request at support@guildlaunch.com and Slater will personally review it and – after answering the ticket so you have the answer – potentially post it here with your username and guild site.  If you would rather not have your username and site posted, we can change the name to protect the innocent.
