Hello and welcome to ‘Ask Slater’, our Support tech’s weekly column where he addresses questions commonly asked by our userbase! Our question today comes from Tibbles from Awesome Site.

“Slater,
I saw that Guild Launch opened up the Dragonslayer Awards voting recently. The game I’m playing came out with some awesome new features this year and I’d like to vote for them, but I don’t see them on the list of games with Most Dramatic Change.
Why didn’t they get picked? Also, what are the awards anyway?”
Tibbles,
A lot of games have come out with some amazing features, I have to admit. I know City of Heroes added a free-to-play model in September, And Everquest went free-to-play in March as well. I could tell you stories about my EQ days, with pretty much the best starter zone ever created:

…sorry, I’m getting nostalgic.
These games, and many others, definitely made notable changes. We discussed adding all of them, but in the end decided to limit the voting to a small pool of contestants. As we do this in the years to come, we welcome your feedback – you can always send me an email at support@guildlaunch.com to let us know about a specific feature that you would like to see in the awards for 2013 and beyond.
As for your other question, the Dragonslayer Awards are a sort of recognition program by Guild Launch for all the great work we’re seeing coming out of the industry. Whether it’s a newcomer to the scene getting Kickstarted to produce an MMO, a community management team knocking it out of the park or a webcomic giving us quality material to read when the servers are down, we want to show off those folks that make the games we play the best they can be.
You as a community can vote in these awards and choose who is the creme de la creme, the best, the elite – at Dragoncon this year, we’ll recognize those winners with a trophy to take back and display (or, if they’re not at Dragoncon this year, send it off Godfather-style with an offer they can’t refuse*).
*They could probably refuse if they wanted, but the offer is going to be like “Hey, you won, here is this awesome trophy that you can display,” so… yea.
I hope this clears up a few of the questions you had!
