Welcome to our very first Feature Friday! Every week, I (Slater, your friendly neighborhood support guy) will highlight a feature on the Guild Launch platform that will help your guild/corp/kinship/clan conquer your own bit of webspace.
You may have noticed that the Powers That Be here released a new feature on Wednesday: the nefarious Guild News email updates. We may need to get some slick handlebar mustaches to properly pull this off…

This dastardly feature notifies users on a regular basis of what’s new and happening on sites they’re a member of; new users, new/active topics and the like all get sent out in an email. It’s planned to be sent out every other week, just a friendly reminder that the site they joined is still there, is still active, and that we are secretly planning to rule the world with their help.
Wait. Not that last part. Ignore that. Just the “present and active” parts.
There are two main pieces of information that are included in the email:
- Topics that were created in the past two week
- A maximum of five
- Topics with more posts will appear before those with fewer
- New Members
- The six most recent members
- Only members who have joined in the past two weeks
This way, you don’t have to be as diligent in telling your users to hop on the site – we’ll remind them for you!
Naturally, a few users might want to opt-out of this email. This is the internet, after all. So at the bottom of every email, there will be an option to unsubscribe if you so desire; this option is also available per site on your Private Messages tab, under the ‘Notifications and Subscriptions’ tab.

That’s the basic rundown of our new bi-weekly email updates. Much like our Ask Slater Tuesday posts, if you have something you’d like to see, let me know! Send me an email at support@guildlaunch.com or send me a tweet – I’m @GL_Slater on the Twitter.
