Since the Mafia Wars incident of ’09 (it was a dark time), I haven’t played many Facebook games. Whenever I log into my Facebook account, though, I’m inundated by my friends’ invites to various and sundry games, asking for flowers for gardens and cows for pastures and cakes for stands and who knows what else.
My Facebook game time is over, but for many gamers, it’s a stepping stone to the bright and shiny world that is online gaming. They can play with their friends in a cooperative fashion (or competitive, if they’re like my family and need argument fodder for Christmas) and enjoy themselves.
So it makes sense that users might want to connect their Facebook accounts to other accounts on the web. And Guild Launch listened. Users can now connect their Facebook account to their Guild Launch account, and login quickly and easily with one login!
For Existing Users Wanting to Connect Their Account:
There is going to be a bright and shiny button on the login screen for new users. Do not click this. Your button is safely available on your User Profile!
You can get to your User Profile by clicking your username at the top right of the site when you’re logged in. From there, click the ‘Edit Profile’ beneath your Avatar. The first option is to change your username and password – just below that is the button to add your Facebook account.

Click that and you’ll be guided through the process of adding your Facebook account to your Guild Launch account.
To Create a New Account with your Facebook Account
This is done right on the login screen!

This will walk you through the process of creating a new account through Facebook. It will generate a username for you (which can be changed on your User Profile) and create the account.
If you ever disconnect your Facebook account from a Guild Launch account that was created through Facebook, you will need to perform a password reset, but the account is still linked to your email address as well.
To Disconnect
If you ever decide to disconnect your Facebook account from your Guild Launch profile, it’s easy peasy (please don’t tell anyone I said ‘easy peasy’, it’ll ruin my street cred): this is done on your user profile as well.
Click the ‘Edit Profile’ button beneath your Avatar on your User Profile and you’ll see this:

This has been a brief overview of our Facebook Connect functionality. Much like our Ask Slater Tuesday posts, if you have something you’d like to see, let me know! Send me an email at support@guildlaunch.com or send me a tweet – I’m @GL_Slater on the Twitter.
