Backhoe Crits Guild Launch Datacenter for 100,000 Damage
Earlier today we experienced significant network latency due to an issue with the datacenter connectivity. This event also occured literally the day after a missed turnon of an additional OC-12 (a very large data connection) at that same data center.

They have restored connectivity at this point and networks speeds have returned to normal and are moving at "all possible speed" to get the new connectivity online.
We're sorry for the inconvenience and we're really sorry that backhoes have such a penchance for finding trouble!

Fantastically horrendous, in an incredibly cruel sort of way.
Cedar Falls Utilities in Iowa hasn't had the best morning, and as such, we've all had a terrible one so far. A rogue backhoe (aren't they all) severed a major fiber bundle very near the property of the TEAMNET datacenter facility that we so desperately rely upon. This is is particularly insulting as Qwest missed the turn-up on the oc-12 line during the overnight hours, discussed elsewhere, as "end-to-end consistency" on the fiber was not yet completed to a point where IP could be turned over to our engineering team.
Considering the mentioned bundle cut, and subsequent emergency, a variety of critical networking paths have been impacted, including our inter-facility gigE, phone system harmony between our various offices, and a healthy swath of TEAMNET's ability to assist us (and to provide service nominally) has been wiped out.
