We're trying to make it so that the natural usage path works. We're almost there. In a few more releases and tweaks you'll need to basically know how to use the mod if you are going to, then you go from there.
The fact is we have so many options that it becomes difficult to do a step by step. The answers are different if you are WoW guild, or non-WoW guild. If you want to run an in-game DKP mod (with the requirement of everyone running Bidder) or don't want to run in-game DKP. If you just want to track drops, but don't use DKP, etc.
Due to this we've focused on documenting the different aspects individually and the user synthesizing their own approach. Admittedly, a bit more guidance initially would help and I certainly welcome feedback and input from users on the "typical" path that could be documented in a more put together manner.

Kind of off-topic, but one other suggestion I might make is regarding Rapid Raid instructions. Although the documentation is out there, I think since you guys are so busy, it gets put up in this place and that place but not all centralized in a step-by-step, "this is what you do" kind of manual. I may be wrong, but it certainly has been my experience so far when trying to find out how to make things tick.

Um.. do you have problems with cookies expiring? We auto extend logins while you're active. Am I just misunderstanding what you mean?
Your requirements are certainly going to be well above the average guild that manage 4 or 5 raids a week that actually use full blown signups. As a raiding community you have multiple groups going all the time. Your experience is important though because it really highlights where there are workflow improvements that can be made.
After your initial comments earlier I refined the sorting and added a "Class & Signup Date" option as well as making it so that the sorting is retained as you assign people and work with the Signup Detail page. The net effect of those two relatively small changes is pretty drastic.
We're already using more Ajax and popup forms in the signups. I just didn't show them in the video. Many of the forms still post back since I've been focusing on the layout and presentation so I could present it to you all for feedback. The next iteration of functionality is to do more Ajax reloads of the page data. It's going to be really smooth once we're done.

And yes, even if a full drag and drop solution can't be implemented now, at least some ajax and non-expiring cookies would really help with the workflow. I probably spend at least two hours each day just managing raids, since we have so many. I know Puggernaut is much larger than most guilds, as its a raid community, but still, the less effort it takes to complete a workflow the better.

hmm.. maybe ...
I will attend with:
Illustria, Demonology
Illustria, Affliciton
I select demonology
Then the raid sign up would look like-
Character & Class & Rank :
Illustria (Warlock)
Chieftan
Demonology*, Affliction
this would make the raid leaders list a bit longer.. eep.. or perhaps the character list? (not sure how the code works).. or it could be simple as removing a group by option.. .. But at least that's an indicator of what spec... Of course.. players have their own "note" box to write it, that also serves this purpose.

I've not used signup deadlines for a while because I could never get them to work correctly; Anyone who joined days in advance were put as late and people who sign up the day of were not.
Is the signup deadline going to include the ability to close raids once the deadline is reached?
ETA: Is there or will there be a function allowing people to sign up to multiple raids at a time. Every Tuesday for the month or something like that?

We are consiering adding an option to close signups. I do feel though that the signup deadline is best left as an indicator of timeliness and letting the raid leader react accordingly. Actually closing the signups at that time is ultimately counter productive since getting a raid together is oftentimes more important *and* a raid leader is the only person who can declare a raid as not going to happen. Given that, they can check the raid out at the deadline and delete the raid if it isn't going to happen. Closing the deadline isn't the best manner with which to enforce this.
We have thousands of guilds using signup deadlines, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't work for you. Maybe after this release give them a try again and let us know if you encounter an issue.
