Chicago Ventrilo Issue - DDOS
UPDATE: 7/8/2009 4:38pm EDT
The Null Route has been lifted again. We will change the IP Address tomorrow morning, July 9, 2009 between 07:30am - 09:00am EDT, back to the normal IP Address, assuming the DDoS Attack does start up again on the normal IP Address.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this DDoS Event.

UPDATE: 7/7/2009 11:14am EDT
The DDOS attack started up again almost instanly. We'll be moving back to the TEMPORARY IP ADDRESS again shortly: 75.102.27.158
The target of the attack has now been cancelled to hopefully avoid another attack after we bring back the normal IP Address tomorrow.

UPDATE 7/7/2009 10:45am EDT - Null Route Lifted
The Null Route has been lifted. We will move all Ventrilo Servers on chi01 back to the original IP Address at this time. This is the best time to move it as it is a very low usage period on the server.
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this DDoS Event.

The normal IP Address for chi01.guildlaunch.net has been Null Routed (meaning it is unreachanble). The Null Route will be in place for roughly 24 hrs. This is standard practice for Data Centers.
The target of the DDoS Attack was a single Ventrilo Server. That server has been suspended pending further investigation.
To ensure everyone has access to their Ventrilo Server now (instead of waiting about 24 hrs), we bring services up on a TEMPORARY IP ADDRESS. This IP Address will work until such time as the Null Route is removed and we bring all servers back up on the main IP Address.
Until we can use the normal IP Address, here is the TEMPORARY IP ADDRESS to use: 75.102.27.158
We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding during this DDoS Attack event.

This is getting, at the least, kinda crazy. This vent goes down more than any other vent I've ever used. If this is how it's going to be then I'll be taking my guild site and vent money somewhere else. My guild had a raid last night with no vent... lucky we had a guildie with a vent that we could use or I would've had to cancel... now that's just unacceptable. Sorry to complain but it had to be said.
Did you try the new IP posted below? We host thousands of Ventrilo servers and DDOS events are going to happen. DDOS attacks happen, and the only thing we can do is change the IP and announce the change.
We've changed the IP a few times in the last few days unfortunately due to the DDOS and that has lead many people to think their server was "down" when in fact it had just been moved to a new IP.
We always announce service effecting changes on this site. If you can't connect, check in here, if it's something we've done like this IP change then there will be a post up about it shortly.
