Guild Launch News
RELEASE: Version 3.2.3 - Domain Pointing Changes & RR
Version 3.2.3 - Domain Pointing Changes & Rapid Raid
In this release we are releasing our new Spotlight Guild, some admin changes, some tweaks to Rapid Raid and an important change to our domain pointing service.
February Spotlight Guild
Our February Spotlight guild is The Eternal Watch, http://www.the-eternal-watch.com. You can visit our Top Guilds area and see the interview here: http://launchpad.guildlaunch.com/tools/top_guilds.php
The Eternal Watch is led by a support forum regular Mithoron and we think you will find his interview entertaining and informative.
Domain Name Pointing Changes
We've been working on our processes and methods for making full domain pointing work with our sites and we have significantly reduced the cost of providing this service so long as our customer can use an A-Record to point to our server.
Because of this we have decided to remove all fees for domain pointing except in cases where the customer needs to use our DNS server. In those cases there will be a $5.00 setup fee. That fee will be waived for Pro accounts.
So what does this mean for you?
If you currently have a domain pointing subscription, you can cancel it. The domain will continue working and you will receive no more billings.
If you don't have a domain name, but you'd like to, but didn't want to pay the $2.00/mo. then you can now add domains (that you already have registered) to your guild site by simply typing it into a text field on the Guild Hosting Properties page and clicking "Submit".
To sum it up: No domain pointing fees any more for paid subscriptions.
We will be sending out emails to current domain subscription customers next week letting them know about these changes.
Admin Changes
Rapid Raid Tab
There is now a Rapid Raid tab in Admin. This tab will be available to all guild admins and site admins and can be granted to security groups via the Content Settings on the permission group. There are now two types of DKP rights that can be granted. One is for the front end, for adding raids, etc., the other is for Admin, for editing Rapid Raid configuration, merging DKP, etc.
"Overview" Style Admin Tab Landing Pages
The rapid raid tab is built with our new philosophy of Admin tabs where the first page of an Admin tab represents an overview of the settings available and the settings that have been set. This approach makes the landing page a doorway into the functionality and achieves a level of natural documentation.
In addition these landing pages have links to FAQs, videos and other information resources. The idea of all of this is to make Admin and the guild site functionality more self documenting and to ensure that the documentation resources are readily available to guild admins.
We will reworking the other admin pages to work with this new philosophy over time.
Rapid Raid Tweaks
Raid Eligible
The character's status of Raid Eligible versus Not Eligible is now used on the signup pages. Characters that are not raid eligible are no longer available for signup.
This distinction is new and some guilds may not be used to it. In order to get the character back for signups an admin needs to go to Admin->Members then click on the Character List link and set characters that can raid to "Raid Eligible".
DKP Admins Can Now Signup other Characters
The dropdown list for characters to signup is now split into two groups. The top characters are your own raid eligible characters listed alphabetically. If you are a site admin, a guild admin or a DKP admin you will also have all the raid eligible characters listed below your own. This will make it so that you can signup others if you would like, but that your own characters will always be presented first so you can find them quickly.
Bug Fixes
1. We discovered an instance where the mod would not correcly set your melee and ranged attack power. This was causing the roster upload to error out. This has been fixed.
2. Signatures could be made very wide. We've now limited the signature area to 500 pixels wide to keep this from happening.
3. Certain very long text on the Raid Progression widget was wrapping. We've adjusted the text and letter spacing to keep them on one line.
4. If you put seperator text in your application, the seperator was not showing on the forum post or in the admin area. The seperator will now show.
I hope you enjoy the new features, we have more for next week.

Trying to figure this one out...
So if we want to give a person the ability to add raids we enable it in the Permissions tab through the Content Permissions correct?
So adding "Full Privileges" (BTW, Privileges is spelled incorrectly in the Admin tab) gives them full rights or only the ability to add raids?
And giving them Rapid Raid Admin rights gives them full privileges?
Just want to make sure I get it correct, hehehe...

The top section on the permissions is for the front-end non admin part. It's the same permissions you've been granting people up until now.
The lower section on the permissions is for Admin areas. That is the new one and includes access to all capabiliites on the Admin tab in admin.
Does that make sense?

Ah, gotcha.
Is it possible to be able to have somebody create groups and such on the calendar but NOT have access to the DKP or is that too tightly tied together?
Also, is it possible for even further to allow somebody access to ADD raids and IMPORT DATA and EDIT raid data, but NOT do adjustments?
I can just see some officer or something getting peeved off and deleting everybody's points instantly. Guess I've been working in a cloaked network for too long, LOL. Would be nice if raid leaders could do everything but deduct points through adjustments...

The permissions system is built with granular security in mind in the underlying system. DKP will probably be the first place we utilize it, but for now it's all or nothing.

Do the domain name changes mean now that I can point to http://premonitionwow.com and have it point to our guildlaunch site?

Yes. You could before, but there was a fee. Now you can do it for free, so long as you can set the A-Record.
