Guild Launch News
New Widgets - WoW Progress & Levequest Countdown
Greetings,
Today we have released 2 new widgets. They are:
- WoWProgress.com Widget
- Final Fantasy XIV Levequest Timer
More info is on our blog site:
http://www.guildlaunch.com/blog/?p=338
We want to build more widgets for all games!
We often get messages saying 'Please add more widgets for X game'. Which is awesome, it at least lets us know that people are wanting widgets for those games. The thing is... not every game has functionality that is appropriate for a widget and some games have very subtle elements. We play *a lot* of MMOs. We have accounts in nearly every MMO in existence... but the best source of information on what makes a good widget are our customers. You are the ones who live and breath the individual games. If you know of functionality that would work well as a widget please send us as much specific info (links, images, anything) and we will work to get it done!
In other words: 'More Widgets' is great, 'A widget to display the countdown to the next reset that happens every 36 hours starting at X date and going on forever.' is Awesome Sauce!
If you have ideas for widgets for *any* game please let us know!
We want to work with more community sites for all games!
On the same note, we are always looking to work with more community sites. If your game has a kick ass community site, or a site you think will be kick ass some day, please let us know about it! We can often partner with community sites and integrate functionality. This leverages the community further, lets us get content to you, provides promotion for your favorite community site and generally gives everyone warm fuzzies all around.
Enjoy!

Thanks!
This Levequest Timer is a great addition for FFXIV Websites!
Right now though the 'seconds' on the Widgets bounce all over the place. It will go from 54 to 56 to 52. It goes down, but randomly goes up a few seconds on every tick.
Also, can we have a choice to put it in different formats? Like:
hours:minutes:seconds
instead of:
days
hours
minutes
seconds
This way the Widget isn't taking up a ton of sidebar space.
Thanks again for this addition! I hope you don't take this as anything more then constructive feedback. hehe

The layout is different because they provide it in a different format. You can get the images from WowProgress and use an HTML widget to size them however you want. Many of our new templates have a 180pixel wide sidebar and these fit just fine in there and only open it up by about 20 pixels on the other ones.

Why is the layout so different from the guildox widget?
Imo the WoW Progress widget is too wide for the sidewidget zone.

Internet Explorer,
Yes yes, I know people are going to post saying:
"Dude use Firefox/Chrome/Safari/Opera" (Alright maybe not Opera...)
But it bounces back and forth in IE.

Is it IE 8? My IE 8 seems to do fine. Can you try clearing your cache? Possibly you are running an old version of the JavaScript that does the countdown.

A widget for Mumble. We left Ventrilo almost 4 months ago and haven't looked back!

Maybe... the WoWProgress widget requires having their IDs. I'll see what we can do.

Would it be possible to do a side-by-side type change for the Guild Description similar to how you did the Tabard? (%%WoWProgress%%)?
Also, can you do a widget for GuildOx as well for something similar?

Alright!
I figured out what messed the Levequest Widget up. (I have the latest version of IE8 and Java)
When you drag the widget up from the bottom (In Widget edit mode) to the top of the page, that seems to be what is messing it up. When I did it through the GL Admin window I had no more problems with it.
So its only when you drag it over other Widgets in an effort to change its position.
Also, any news on if we will be able to change the display format on the Levequest Widget?
