SNEAK PEAK: Version 3.8 - WoWHead Itemstats
In Version 3.8 we will be changing our default WoW itemstats provider to WoWHead. Due to changes in the item image names and format and due to new code that automatically downloads the needed images from WoWHead when a new images is available we are considering wiping out and resetting the current item cache database table. The other option we are researching is an auto refresh.
The reason for this is that WoWhead has different images than Allakhazam and since the new code lets us download images directly from WoWHead we need to transition to WoWheads images. If we don't wipe out or auto refresh the database then itemstats that only display as icons won't be refreshable since the icons don't have a refresh icon.
Either way, we'll have new better itemstats in 3.8. Even if we have to wipe out the item cache, recreating the item cache is a single click and since there is a shared database the refresh from users clicking the icon would happen for the most used items very very quickly.

UPDATE: We've got an auto refresh script that updates and downloads the images for about 95% of the existing items in the database. That should be enough to get the primary items refreshed and we can deal with any outliers either with a simple click or a forced refresh.
