Rift Guild & Raid Attendee Import BETA
Greetings Everyone,
Today we have released new functionality for Raid Attendee imports and Guild Roster imports for RIFT.
In-game these functions are accessed by typing /dumpguild and /dumpraid which will create a guild.xml file and raid.xml file in your RIFT install directory.
If you then go to your guild roster you can paste the contents of the guild.xml file into textbox on the RIFT XML Import page.
For raids, you can create a raid and when adding an event you have the option to load attendees from a file. Paste the contents of the raid.xml file into that textbox and the attendees will be added.
Things to note:
1. This is BETA functionality. It might not work, it might work partially, it might blow up and generate only pictures of rainbow skittles on your screen, but we've tested it and we think it works. Your feedback on any issues will definitely help us keep the rainbow skittles at bay.
2. The guild.xml file does not have faction (Guardian/Defiant), it does not have gender, and does not have Race. I can sort of understand the first being missing... but hopefully Trion will fix the lack of Race and gender info since that is fun info to have. I've sent them an email about it. We'll see.
Until that info is added the race imports as 'N/A' and the gender is male. I hope you don't think that is sexist, but if we randomized it then it would be wrong more often than right. This way it's at least 50% (or so) correct. Both can be updated after the fact. The import form has a dropdown for Faction selection.
3. The Raid.xml import info is not imported on Raid import page. I know that is a little confusing, but in our system the data in the Raid.xml file matches up with the Event Attendees so it is used at the bottom of the event page.
Please let us know how this works for you and we will continue to update as Trion updates this functionality.
Enjoy!
Stephen

Thanks for adding this. It will definitely help!
One change suggestion: is it possible to make it so that we don't have to paste the contents of the guild roster XML, but instead just select and upload the XML file via the browser's standard file upload option? This is just a minor convenience, but I think it would be a little simpler.
There also seem to be some bugs related to the import and the entire roster functionality at the moment.
1. The roster columns seem to be out of synch with the character data. My character is a guardian Mathosian rogue (that's what the character details here show), but the roster (here) shows the race as "Guardian" and class as "Mathosian", while the faction is not displayed at all. This is for a newly created character - I know you said that the characters needed update, as different database fields got changed, but it's still wrong. Interestingly, some characters on our roster showed the race and class icon correctly (they're not there anymore as I have cleared our roster due to the beta ending).
2. After importing the character, it changed into a "Guardian N/A Rogue". I know that the race information is not currently present in the roster XML files, but the race is set to N/A even if it was present previously. It would be much better if it was simply left intact instead of being re-set to N/A when an existing character is updated.

We'll change how the characters import so they don't nuke an existing race. That makes sense. Then you at least get level updates without causing any harm.
The roster columns just need to be reset for your site. This is usually done when you change a game and will happen for most people when they update to the launch server. I updated your site for you.

I said it on the Facebook page but again - Awesome update.
My current Roster with some CSS (from guildie) turned the roster into this:
http://files1.guildlaunch.net/guild/library/189911/guild.xml
(Obviously it needs some slight improvements)
I noticed that when importing it to GL, it will update the Members Page (I'm not the biggest fan of that page due to the clutter).
I was wondering if there was a way to put what my guild updated (the link) onto an actual page (because we are merely simulating the website through coding).
Would be cool to have the listing there as soon as you hit the "Roster" navi and be able to scroll through it on the actual site. As an alternative perhaps.

You could *try* uploading the XML and the XSL to your File library. Then put the XML in an iFrame on a custom page. Then, remove the extra "cruft" from the XSL so that only the roster info shows. That should work so long as you know how to setup an iFrame.
Actually, upload the XSL and XML to your file library. Then just link to the XML with an iFrame link and it should work fine.

Just so I make sure I understand this in terms of process...
Just want to make sure I have this down in case it doesn't change by Trion by the time we start raiding!
Thanks!

Just so I make sure I understand this in terms of process...
- Enter raid instance, run first export for ON-TIME bonuses and apply this XML for that event
- Kill first boss, run second export for BOSS ATTENDANCE/KILL and apply this XML for that event
- Rinse and Repeat
- Run final export at raid end to compare to first export to do a "ATTEND COMPLETE RAID" type bonus if needed and apply this XML for that event.
Just want to make sure I have this down in case it doesn't change by Trion by the time we start raiding!
Thanks!

That will be the basic flow. You may also be able to use the 'Use Attendees from Last Event' option if everyone sticks around or the difference is only one or two people.

Rank is not updating with the import for some reason...is it because I've renamed the in-game ranks? They are still labeled correctly in the XML, just not uploading to the roster...

One thing that I have noticed - If a player has already setup their characters, I have found that in some cases when I do an import, there will be duplicates. From what I have seen thus far, it seems to occur when I have a player who's name (in game) starts with a capital letter, but when they added the character themselves, the name doesn't start with a capital letter. It seems the import process tries to enforce case sensitivity.
I imagine I can contact the player and have them drop the character with the incorrect capitalization, then claim the one the import process brought in. It would be nice if this wasn't necessary.
Other than that small issue, great job so far!
Thanks,
+Isna
