Guild Launch News
RELEASE: Guild Launch Version 3.9
Note: If you received a database error on your calendar this morning and possibly on your homepage, it was caused by this release going out. We try to minimize the impact of releases, but sometimes it takes a few minutes for all of the database scripts to complete and the database will be out of sync with the code during that time.
This release cotains a host of often requested features as well as some solid enhancements and an Alpha release of our new customization editor. This release includes major changes to the way that forum search is handled. These changes are necessary to meet our performance standards.
The Guild forum search indexes will need to be rebuilt on Friday morning after this release. The index rebuild will take most of the morning. It should not have a considerable performance impact, but until your guild's index is rebuilt your posts will not be searchable.
Now on to the good stuff....
Guild Launch Version 3.9
Raid Tracker Update
Info on the most recent version of the Raid Tracker is here:
http://support.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=743943&gid=535&f=2429
This version has full support for WoW 2.4, but requires changing the Auto Boss option to "On mouseover" for the Auto Boss setting on the "/rt options" screen. That is the default setting for new installs of the mod, but must be changed if you are upgrading and have not previously set it.
Major Features
Custom CSS Editor
Alpha Functionality Release
This release contains an Alpha release of our upcoming Click and Edit Site editor. This editor is intended to provide intuitive access to the most common types of site customization changes people like to make. This includes background colors, font colors, border colors and width, margins, padding and a lot more. The Custom CSS Editor gives you a great deal of easy to use control over the look and feel of your site.
We're releasing this functionality as an Alpha that will allow you to use the editor portion, but will not actually apply the changes to your site.
We would very much appreciate your feedback on this functionality and how we can improve it to provide the types of customization editing that you want for your site.
The Doodad Gallery
We've added a new section on the Template tab in admin called the "Doodad Gallery". This area has a wide selection of our forum icons
that you can download or directly link to as well as other samples of graphical items that we use in different places around the site like the section caps and more. It's a good place to stop if you want to find something for customizing your site.
Character Persona for Forums
Users can now pick a character name to show above their forum name on their posts. This option is per guild and will show your character name above your forum name on your forum posts. This will allow users who want to display their character name more prominently to do so while maintaining the Guild Launch global forum name requirement.
You can choose the Character name to use on the Guilds tab of your User Page.
Section Specific Widgets
Widgets can now be configured to show in only the homepage, forums, gallery, rapid raid, wiki, polls and gallery sections or any combination of them. Widgets display in all sections by default.
Rapid Raid Signup Group Auto Fill
When a signup group is created a class can now be assigned to the group. When characters of that class signup for the raid they will be auto assigned to that signup group up to the maximum number for the group. The group will still allow more than the max number of manual assignments.
Enhancements
Personalized Approval and Denial Notes
You can now attach a personalized note to guild application acceptances and rejections. This can be used for a myriad of situations such as giving someone an indication of why they were rejected or any number of other purposes.
Roster Level Filtering
You can now set a minimum level for your roster to display. For instance, if you would like to only show Level 70s on your guild roster you can go to Admin->Content tab and then enter "70" in the "Filter Default Character Roster by Level" field. The roster will then only show level 70s and above by default. A small link is shown at the bottom of the roster to allow users to view the entire roster if they want to.
Calendar Day Notes
You now have the option of adding a "Day Note" to the calendar. These calendar day notes don't show times, or places and can't be signed up for. They only show their title and don't display raid icons. This was specifically asked for by a user who wanted to show Instance reset days without the Raid Icon in addition to the raids themselves with the icon. A day note is similar to an "All Day Event" in a calendar program like Outlook.
Unguilded Characters
Your own unguilded characters now show above your guild's unclaimed characters. This is an improvement for guild masters who may have a lot of unclaimed characters on their account.
Raid Signup Group Assignment Indicator
Signups for raids now get a "Yes/No" indicator next to them to indicate if they are assigned to at least one group.
Raid Signup Column Sorting
The columns for signup date, character name, player name, etc. are now sortable on the signup page.
Profile Uploads "Wrong File" Messages
The profiler file uploads page now gives more informative messages when an incorrect file is uploaded, including links to our Profiler FAQ.
Multiple Character Creation on Character List
The restriction on multiple characters with the same name, game and server have been relaxed. You can now duplicate a character, but will be given a warning that it should only be done in certain cases. The reason you may want to do this is to add the character to multiple guilds.
Rapid Raid Signup Note Append
Users can now add to their signup note for a raid. The additonal note is applied to all of their characters that have signed up if they signed up with multiple characters.
Bug Fixes
* Not choosing a character on the Assign Characters screen in admin will now give a friendly error instead of a site error.
* Occassionally applications would be entered that could not be cleared from a site. This issue has been resolved.
* An issue where clicking a forum post style icon without text selected would submit the form has been resolved.
* An issue where the guild's cached template data was not being cleared when the template was switched has been resolved.
* An issue where events with no attendees could not be deleted from a raid has been resolved
* An issue where incorrectly formatted subdomains could be chosen has been resolved
Performance
* We have made performance improvements site wide. Most of these changes were hotfixed in the last week and are already in place. The most noticeable improvement is that we have decreased the load time of the view_forum.php page quite a bit.
* We've made major improvements to how forum search is handled. Post searching and post creation and editing will be "snappier" as a result.

The shoutbox will not hide on the forums. I put it on the right column, and set it to hide on the forums, and it refused to hide.

UPDATE 11:42 EST:
The search index rebuild is now complete.
I found the issue with Per Section settings on the Shoutbox and it will be fixed after I test the changes.

Could we possibly be able to manually turn off the site admin and membership widgets in the forum section?
I have all the widgets I would like displayed in the forum already set up on the right and would like to keep the left clear. None of the configuration options work unless we allow them in the forum in the content options it seems. So until those two things are able to be manually turned off in the forum the whole widget thing is a non option for me.
Other than that I like all the changes. Its really nice to see my forum icons in the dodad gallery

The site admin and membership widget will be getting a widget component soon. unfortunately, those look like widgets but behind the scenes they aren't treated like widgets nor implemented like widgets. We will be changing that in an upcoming release.
