Guild Launch News
New Admin Released
Greetings Everyone!
The brand spanking new Admin is now available on all sites. We are happy to bring to you a more modern, more streamlined, more usable admin. The new admin contains a lot of feedback from over the last few years and provides a better foundation from which to add new features.
I want to thank you all for your feedback and I want to thank the team here at Guild Launch for making this a significant team effort. Everyone at Guild Launch, customers and employees, were deeply involved in this redesign and I hope you will agree that it shows in the result!
As for change notes, it is pretty simple:
General Changes
1. Admin is completely new.
Feature Changes
1. There are 30 or so new permissions available in the Admin area so you can grant fine grain permissions to your users.
2. You can now Bookmark pages in Admin so that you can quickly access them using the menu at the top left.
3. Pending Apps show at the top of every page
4. Error notifications throughout are much more consistent
The permissions changes will not remove permissions from a group, or remove the abilities of an existing member, except in a couple of cases, such as Assigning Characters which is now a Edit Character permission. The new permissions grant you the ability to grant more specific permission than you could before. So, you can grant only the ability to Ban Users by IP and Name, without giving the group global permissions access.
Enjoy!

Hi Guys - very nice new admin control panel - thanks for implementing it!
Just editing some group permissions, and I've noticed that if you have more than 7 permission groups, you need to scroll sideways to get to them. However, the sideways scroll is right at the bottom of the screen, below all of the options, so it's not very user friendly if you want to check what groups have been created, or if you want to edit one of the offscreen groups.
Putting in a sideways scroll bar at the top of the screen as well as at the bottom would remedy this very easily!
Thanks in advance!

Demhael,
We'll work on improving that in the next release. I think we need to change up the UI there just a touch. We wanted people to be able to visually compare access levels for various groups, but in the old admin the page would scroll right and the new Admin doesn't do that.
I'll look at our data on the average number of permission groups on sites (which last we looked was 3, which fits perfectly on the page) and see if we can improve the UI for those with many more than that.

Just spotted another issue when you have more than 7 permission groups - when you scroll to one of the offscreen groups, all the names/info regarding each tickbox is scrolled offscreen, so in order to change the profile of one of the offscreen groups, it involves a large amount of scrolling left and right to ensure that the correct option has been chosen.
There was a small issue with the Alliance widget that caused some sites to render improperly after the release. That issue has been resolved.

I'm seeing the old admin screen as of 9:35pm CST on 5/22/12. Has the new admin screen gone down?
By the way, I did get to look at it for about 5 minutes before it reverted back. So far, I really liked the changes that were made. Will post again if I see a glitch and once I have a full understanding of all the changes. Thanks for the update.

Thorr,
There may be some old links in PMs and such to the old Admin, but it is definitely still there and active. You can change /admin/ in the url to /admin2/ to get to it.

Noticed some problems...
Setting permissions does not allow my user in "Personnel" to get to all the links under the "Roster" section. He only sees the member options however when you goto the "Old Admin" he can access what he needs to get to which is "Show members without Characters".
Also, our side says our recruiting is set to private but yet when you goto "Misc Settings" under "Recruiting", it says its set to open...
As I find more, I will let you know...

The 'Show Members without Characters' option is now on the Reports page on the Roster. The user should be able to access that in the new Admin area.
I fixed the indicator on the Dashboard to show the proper recruiting status.

I've double checked this and the user should definitely be able to see the reports link and the report you are asking about is on there. We've moved some reports to sub-pages to streamline navigation for lesser used functionality.
