Guild Launch News
Updates: Post Counts, Member Activity, Mobile Site
Greetings,
In todays release we have added new functionality and expanded other functionality.
New Mobile Site BETA
In the footer of every site is now a link to the mobile site beta. This mobile site is a fully functional version of your site optimized for your mobile phone. It uses reduced graphics, removes transparency, and enlarges text. In addition, we have completely reworked the navigation to optimize it for a mobile experience.
In the Beta we have completely reworked the Forum functionality, but all primary user (non-admin) functionality is available on the Mobile site. Your feedback for the Beta is very much appreciated.
User Activity Report
On the Roster tab via the Reports page is a new Report titled 'Member Activity'. This report shows the last login, the rank, the number of posts on this guild site and the global number of posts for this user.
While we intend to expand this functionality further we feel that this is critical info for you to find your more active members and to check on overall activity of your guild. Enjoy!
Site Name Distinct from Primary Game
The name shown in your header page titles and other similar places is now distinct from the primary game for your site. This name can be set on the Site Settings tab in the Admin area.
This will allow you to name your site 'The League of Pandas' and have a WoW guild named 'Panda Doom' and a League of Legends clan named 'Panda League' and a Guild Wars 2 guild named 'I Love Pandas' without interfering with imports and similar functionality.
For the multi-game sites this should make naming much easier to wrap your head around.
Post Count Per Site
A users post count, and their post rank, is now tracked per site instead of globally across Guild Launch. For those of you on multiple sites your post rank may decrease, but the rank is more relevant since the ranks are related to the site themselves.
We hope you enjoy the new updates and, as always, your feedback is appreciated!
Thanks!
Stephen

Looking good :-)
Is there a specific reason why I can click on the site post count and see the members previous site posts, but I can't do the same for global posts? Does it mean that perhaps the sites where they did the additional posts are no longer active?
The beta mobile site seems to have completely removed all widgets (ie, other than a navigation one, all other widgets on the left and right sides of the page are not showing on the mobile site). It also doesn't show the top navigation bar.

Clicking the new Mobile(BETA) link on bottom of website does not work at all on either iPhone, Android or on our regular web browser:
ERROR CODE:
1344258611GLWEB103
I assume its Beta, and new- but figured to let you know ;)
EDIT: I tried it on your site and it does work, but it does not on ours. (riftsvindicated.guildlaunch.com)

Poisonenvy: For the first question, I think that was a design decision, but I'm not sure. I'll talk to the folks involved and see what is up on that front.
For the Mobile design, that was an intentional removal on the part of the developers to make it load more quickly on a mobile browser.
Valorstrike: Thank you for reporting that, I will let our developers know.

I couldn't find anywhere else to post a Mobile Beta "bug", so..
Going to the site works fine on my phone (Android), except by default it's zoomed in way too much. I tried it on two separate mobile browsers and both did the same thing. Not really a *huge* issue, just a minor inconvenience.
Other than that. Good work

We are working on the Zooming. There is code in there to make it zoom out by default, but it doesn't seem to be working in all cases. This should be a "Beta Bug" that we can work out.

We need to make other changes to make cross site post display perform properly with permissions correctly applied, so we don't support display "all" post across Guild Launch at this time. The post for the site you are currently viewing are easy to display so we are doing that.

Just tried the mobilesite and ran across an issue with the login; it seems you can't login from inside the mobile site (no login-button for instance). It worked if you logged in on the regular site and then moved to the mobile one though.
More of a featuresuggestion really: have you pondered implementing TapaTalk for the forum? It's a mature and very well working app that makes reading/browsing forums a BREEZE.
I could really recommend looking into that, a lot of forums are compatible with this.

On the mobile site there should definitely be a Login and Register link at the top right of the site. I verified it is there on our test site as well as your site.
We want to do more with our mobile site than Tapatalk will support. In addition this is a mobile optimized version of your site, not a secondary, additional, download.

Thanks so much for the updates! The work towards making sites useable by mobile devices is especially appreciated, given how many of our kinship members are accessing the site using their cell phones, iPods, etc.
I love it that you folks made a mobile version for the website.
It will certainly make life easier for many many users, including myself.
I agree with the person above who said the site loads too zoomed in, though. At least that's how it worked on my Blackberry.
Other than that I could login and view the website properly.
Thank you very much for the updates :D
