GL CT RaidTracker issues...
The Guild Launch CT RaidTracker is plagued with major issues. Hopefully there is a dedicated person or persons actively working on this because over the past 2-3 years it has been a mess.
One minor issue with the addons are a lack of correct version numbers after an update. The broken RaidTracker 6.17 still shows as 6.15 and 6.16 also shows as 6.15 as well but at least 6.16 tracks and stores loot. Most of the addons do not show the correct version number after updating.
Then we get to the other more important issues which haven't been working in a very long time. If you do an in game "/rt options" command to bring up the GL CT RaidTracker options all sliders in the various tabs and a few other selections do not work at all. In order to set what loot to track or time zone to use I end up manually editing my config file outside of the game. This would be a nice thing to put some attention to and correct please.
Also there is another in game "/rt io" command which does not work either. The option allows the user to add items to a black list to either always show or not show and none of the choices can be changed. It is a very handy option to have working when you do not want to see constant loot tracker box pop ups for old raid items or from items every time someone disenchants in a raid, etc. It is very annoying when trying to heal, tank or dps and the tracker loot box pops up.
Moving from the outdated Ace2 libraries to the current Ace3 libraries would help in correcting many of these issues but it does show the GL lack of dedication to the addons in general. Ace2 was discontinued in June of 2010 and Blizzard has made many UI changes since then. Way past time to move to the updated libraries for better compatibility.
AddOn development framework
Note: Ace2 is deprecated and will not be developed any further! It is officialy at End-Of-Life.
For new projects, use Ace3 instead. For old projects, we suggest porting them to Ace3, or looking for alternatives.
Hey Raganar,
Thank you for the report. It has clued me into a few more things to fix!
I am currently working on a build that should fix all of the /rt options issues. I have most of the options working correctly now and still need to test a few more (testing is a tedious process as I have to actually be in game and make certain events happen to test).
I am fairly new to addon development and keep forgetting to update the version numbers in some places. I am getting better though!
The /rt io issues are very similar to the other option issues and I am working on this as well. It shouldn't be too hard to fix it up. The issue is how many things Blizzard has changed with 6.0 and it just takes time to dig through and figure all of it out.
Lastly, I understand your concerns with Ace2.0 versus Ace3.0 and I have extensively investigated our options. We have concluded it is our best option to stick with Ace2.0 because we have actually been maintaining our own build of it for some time now. All issues have been solved with Ace2.0 as of the last builds I uploaded to WoWInterface. I looked into updating to Ace3.0 and the amount of time it would take me is quite substantial. We reference Ace2.0 in every single file, it's just a daunting task.
Drop us another post here or email us if you find more issues! Also keep an eye out for updates on WoWInterface.
Many sliders are still not working as well and I couldn't select the loot level (Poor-Epic and greater) to track from the "/rt options" tabs. The "/rt io" option seemed to work however but I couldn't fully test it because I had to go back to a previous version of the tracker for our raid tonight.
