Guild Launch News
Windows Vista & Network Performance
I've recently discovered a Windows Vista networking tweak that definitely works. In the Windows XP days there were all kinds of recommendations for networking tweaks that really didn't accomplish much. This one seems to be the real deal. You can read the full article here:

The gist is this:
1. Load up a command prompt in Administrator mode
2. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without the quotes.
Your browsing should now be much faster in almost all cases. I noticed Video load times being significantly improved and notice some wierdness with Guild Launch itself go away, which is of course very important to me.

So, if you are running Vista and seeing some network wierdness such as slow load times, pages that hang or time out for no apparent reason, etc. then I definitely recommend you give this a shot.
Enjoy!

Before I give the solution, let me explain the problem in a bit more detail… It all comes down to Vista’s “Auto Tuning” feature. Turns out that this feature isn’t compatible with many routers and networking devices(including mine). Means the feature that was supposed to be a boon turned itself into some sort of a bane.
