Guild Launch News
Guild Launch - Version 6.1 Sneak Peak
Greetings Everyone,
Today I would like to announce some planned features for Guild Launch Version 6.1. This Version is planned for release on March 25th.
Major Features
Guild Alliances - Link List
We will be adding a new Guild Alliance Link list widget. This widget is configurable on the Guild Admin alliance link list configuration page and allows you to add links with any title and any URL you desire. The links are editable, sortable and you can add headings. The purpose of this functionality is to allow a simple way for guilds to interlink their alliance sites whether they be on Guild Launch or anywhere else.
Advanced Guild Alliances
We will also be adding new Advanced Guild Alliance functionality. With this functionality you can actually create an Alliance Guild Site that has other Guild Launch guild sites as "member sites". The members of the Alliance site are automatically synced with the member sites so that when anyone joins a member site they are automatically added to the Alliance site.
The admin of the alliance site will have the ability to send invites to other guild sites. They will also have the ability to kick Alliance guild sites.
This simple but powerful functionality allows you to admin and manage your alliance as an independent site without requiring any double registration. So, you can use the Raid functionality on the Alliance site alongside raid functionality on the individual sites to provide awesome alliance functionality.
We have more alliance specific features to add in the next week, but the core functionality outlined above is implemented in our development code base and we definitely think it provides a foundation for powerful alliance functionality.
Characters - Multiple Guild Membership
In the next release Characters will be able to join multiple guilds. This means that if you are a member of multiple guilds, or an alliance, you can have the same character in both guilds. This way you can have your DKP and character info display in both places with no double entry or management of multiple characters.
Recruiting Changes
The recruiting settings page has had some instructions cleaned up and new options added. As well as the menu reorganized a bit to group the functionality better.
In addition, we are adding the ability to turn off the default "Apply to Guild" display. Hand in hand with that is a new "Recruiting Widget" that allows you to edit the link text (that currently says "Apply to Gulid") to be anything that you want, you can event change the target URL of the Apply to Guild link, you can add a note above the recruiting by class info, you can choose whether to show the recruiting by class info on each widget and you can move the widget (we know this one is big for alot of people).
Widget Changes
A widget can now be set to show only for Non-Members. This goes hand in hand with the above change to allow you to show the Apply to Guild link only to non-members.
The approach with the Apply to Guild changes that we've taken splits the difference between our desire to have a predictable location for this functionality for new guilds, while allowing a person who wants more configurability access to more options. So now, when you create a new site you get the Apply to Guild in the default manner out of the box, but you can then explore the other functionality.
Forum Changes
We have implemented a CAPTCHA for public forums. Any user who posts in a public forum will be allowed to post if they correctly answer the CAPTCHA.
All public forums will be enabled with the CAPTCHA functionality when we release Version 6.1. The admin has the ability to require an account on a forum by forum basis (current functionality).
Enhancements and Fixes
We also have a bunch of other smaller enhancements and fixes coming.
Enjoy!

Thank you!!! The guild alliance features look awesome!
One question, will there be a feature for forums to be shared and viewed on both sites?

We are planning to allow forums to be designated as shared. The forum will display on the Alliance Member sites but posts will be viewed and made on the main Alliance site

I'll do what I can. It's actually larger functionality than it sounds. Needs configuration for poll options, etc.

Any chance since you're playing w/ recruiting, that we can have the application threads set up for auto polls?
It was discussed a long while back.
