Blizzards Roster Import API is Broken
Hi,
As of a couple of days, ago Blizzard's API (which we and every other site use to import rosters) is broken. Please do not try and import your roster, a failed import attempt may erase all of your characters from your site roster.
Unfortunately, Blizzard has not released any information on when the API will be fixed, so please hang in there. We are bummed too!

There has not been an official Blizzard announcement on the guild API issue but I have run multiple roster import tests over the past two days and everything seems to be working.

*eek* What happens with the automatic updates? Should we turn those off? Does this only affect characters NOT linked to an account, or all of them? I've spent ages linking up virtually all characters to their appropriate "owners" on the website - would hate to have to go through all of that again :-(
I've gone ahead and completely disabled my automatic updates, just in case. I'd still be interested in the answer to the questions though, plus any updates you have as to when Blizzard fix this.

Hi, after doing some testing of my own I think it's only affecting US servers. Poisonenvy I was able to import your roster just now, but when I set it back to my US based server, it wiped all of your characters and didn't update mine. You should be okay to update your roster as you wish.
If you wanted to test before you run the import, you could create a new site and run a test there. Since it would be a free site, you will only be able to execute the test once per day.
Blizzard hasn't made any announcements about the issue with their API, but I will keep everyone posted when I know more.

I'm not desperate to do an update at the moment, although that might change if it takes a while - I was hoping to get all website admin sorted prior to the pre-expansion event, and don't want to risk losing stuff, so if it takes a while I may do as you suggest.
If it's related to an Armories update that they've implemented in the US, potentially they may also do it on the French servers too, so there's the possibility the problem may migrate.
If it doesn't, you could always join us on the EU servers ;-)

Looking at the Blizzard forums and bug forums, it seems to be fixed for the EU, but only for about half the US - there are still people there complaining about it. On a related note, there is this page https://does.theapi.work/ that might indicate which realms aren't working properly? I know it's related to the Auction House API and not the rosters, but potentially they may be linked as it seems a bit of a coincidence they both went down around the same time frame.
I saw a post on the Blizzard forum that their certificate expired. They had renewed it, but "some sort of configuration" was off and because of that, the wrong site certificate was used. I'm wondering if that problem was more widespread than they first thought...
Okay this is not working well for me. I just imported our guild info. It imported all the characters, around 500, but it shows very little info about them. I assume it should show more than one item of equipment, and also, the really frustrating item is that the name search doesn't work AT ALL, not for a single named character or a wildcard search. I would like to upgrade to premium service, but not if important features are not working. Thank you for your help in advance!!!
