Regarding the Harmful Content Filter
Hey Everyone,
We're aware and are working on this issue. Google has taken the sledgehammer approach once again without telling us much, if anything. We are in process of submitting to Google for review now. We should have this worked out soon!
Thank you for everyone's patience.
This is not a GL problem as such. It is caused by users of GL and what they have put on their sites, which is triggering the Google thing into a hissy fit.
Unfortunately, I guess it's one of the downsides of being a popular hosting site .. the more people use it, the more chance it's going to come to the attention of problems such as this. That's why they have to have so many safeguards in place to try and stop spammers, bots, damaging scripts, etc.
Hopefully now that they've gotten to the bottom of it (it takes a day or so from sorting out the issue on GL's side, for Google to then declare the domain "clean" again) they might be able to find some way of safeguarding against reoccurrence. But until that happens, there is the possibility of it happening again.
But that possibility would occur at ANY hosting site - the more users a site has, the more likely it is to happen.
Unfortunately, I'm guessing there is a bit of a line they have to tread between making it impossible/less likely for this to happen again, yet still allow members to use their sites the way they want.
Poison, thanks for the support on this. It's very very frustrating for all of us.
To update everyone, we've resubmitted to Google, but their process takes 72 hours. We have got a handle, we believe, on the source of the issue and are implementing even more changes after the cleanup to keep it from happening. Poison is right that a site of our type has these issues. We are a CMS, so we must allow users to post content. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to post content that is good content. To some degree we can't do what we do without the risk of this happening, but we can work on catching content earlier and we're working on a more direct path of communication with Google so we can get more information from them. In addition, we are working to get Google to not see us a giant monolithic site, but as separate sites. That process may take a bit more time.
I appreciate everyone;s patience and support while we work through this. We should be back to normal in the 24 hours.

Wassat? :p

Is this perhaps due to the fact that a lot of sites actually use a sub-domain of yours? We (as in, my own websites hosted with you) have not had any problems, but from the reaction of others, I'm assuming that some people ARE having problems accessing their sites. I'm guessing those are sites that don't use their own domain names? Or is it just pot-luck?
Hi Community,
Last night at 6:00 PM EST Google removed the harmful site warning. Thank you for your patience. We know this is been frustrating but we are taking further steps to stop this from happening again.

No update yet on yet another disabled website?
Not so far. I sent them a direct message via the support chat bubble on my site but had no response. I don't know if that's because they're really busy trying to actually fix this problem once or for all; they're sick of me telling them about it or they're closed for holidays (I know here in the UK our Easter holidays start at the end of this week, but perhaps where they are based is different).

Hi,
Yep, we are continuing to work with Google to figure out what it is they are seeing. We have reached out to our contacts at Google, and we still haven't received a definitive answer. Unfortunately, they are less than helpful. We have checked, rechecked and will continue to keep looking. There's nothing we have found that should cause any concern. We know this is frustrating for all members. We will keep pressing Google and not stop looking. Everyone at Gamer Launch appreciates your continued support.
Thank you,
Gamer Launch Team
Hey everyone,
We're still working on this issue. We've been on an extensive spam removal spree that should be helping. We've been investigating every corner of the site to try to get this resolved. We're trying everything we can in communication with Google, but their response has been limited. Again we're sorry for the inconvenience. We appreciate everyone's understanding!
