Raid Progression in WoW
The image for the raid is queued up ready to go with the next update. I may be able to get it out today, but most likely tomorrow. The raid and bosses was just database work making it easy to get out instantly.
This is showing now .. it's very shiny! Thank you :-)
I've been fiddling a little with another site (not going to jump ship .. but I like to tinker occasionally and they wanted me to beta test and give some feedback .. suspect they regretted it :P ) ... They don't have anywhere as near as many options as you guys as far as actual pages/content etc is concerned, for a start off, however, might be worth checking out for ideas?
This is their interface for page amendments:
It doesn't all work at the moment (beta!) .. but the basics are there .. unfortunately some of their basics are anything but .. I think it's always a bit of a balance between what you can and do provide, and what you should .. V4 was possibly a bit too far one way, and V5 is a bit too far the other ... what you need is V4 with the V5 look :P
The best way to figure out what you need too hook into for CSS is to use the Chrome inspection tool. Every other browser should also have the exact same functionality. This article from Google does a great job of showing you how to go about it.
https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/inspect-styles/
So for the way I found .raidProgressWidgetBossNameMultiGroup was by right clicking on the widget, click inspect, then hover around the html in the console too see exactly which element I want too edit. You can, right in the console, tinker with values to see exactly what you want, then write the CSS into your site CSS section. I know that's fairly advanced, but it would be extremely difficult to build a UI that replicates this any better than what's already built into Chrome and other browsers.
Fair enough! There is definitely a temporary fix you can do in your site CSS. I just tested this to be sure and it worked. You can tinker with the size to your liking.
.raidProgressWidgetBossNameMultiGroup {
font-size: 0.65rem;
}
Updating the raid progression widget styling so that the image and font always fit regardless of V4 or V5 or whatever custom styles you've already selected is what makes it a much more involved update. It's one of those things where I can "fix" it for certain set ups then break it for others. The screenshot you sent I believe is from a V4 site where it fits a bit better by default. Again, I don't want to bore you with every specific. At the end of the day, when in doubt, tinker some CSS is almost certainly your best bet.
Brilliant .. that worked .. I've gone with 0.7 in the end. I think that's the main problem with V5 .. you can't really get under the hood to alter stuff exactly to your liking (the end user) unless you know exactly what all the sections and widgets are called. Which means either you need to build in something to ensure that, regardless of which option the end user picks, it will fit correctly, you need to build in something to V5 to allow this sort of adjustment via a UI, or you need to provide more "help" for each area of the page for editing. I tried clicking on another "help" button in the V5 customisation interface, and it just took me to the basic https://guildlaunch.uservoice.com/knowledgebase page .. which is neither use nor ornament if you're not actually sure what you're looking for, and/or it's not there anyway :P
As for Dazar'alor boss tracking, I was also worried there would be several multiple boss name issues, like Conclave. But after spending some time digging in guides and kill videos, I'm confident that each boss is actually simple. For example, on Conclave, the boss name that signals the completion of the fight is "Akunda's Aspect". So it should be that simple too track. Of course keep an eye on it and report any issues you find.
Always ;-)
I've also changed fonts (couldn't find a way to change font size though) and moved the widget to the widest column, neither of which have an affect.

I tried deleting and re-doing the widget, that made no difference. By the way, on that page where you select the raid progression bosses .. there's a link to "instructions and help" that takes you to a page that doesn't exist:

Okay thanks. Not exactly the end of the world, but certainly something that improves the look of the site and makes it look less like it's been cobbled together :p
As for the spacing issue on the widget, it's a much more involved and time consuming update for reasons I won't bore you with. For now, it is not on top of our priorities list. We have a ticket for it, I'll try to get it pushed up the list!
Hmm .. the only thing is .. I'm not sure it's a "your end" thing .. as I've seen other sites use it, and it's fine .. for example:
Are you sure it's something that requires a widget update? I had a quick look to see if I could reduce the font scale, but in the short amount of time I had at that time, couldn't .. but wondered it that would fix it .. I'll have another fiddle around.
As an aside to that .. it would be nice to know what you have on your priority list, and what it coming out with each update push you do (I know you've promised these before, but not seen a lot tbh) .. because from a consumer point of view it's been a bit quiet around here lately ;-)
Will we also be seeing an update to the GuildLaunchCT_RaidTracker soon?
There's now an update here:
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info21575-GuildLaunchCT_RaidTracker.html
Obviously it will require a little bit of testing to ensure it correctly tracks the bosses .. especially, I'm guessing, for those fights where there are several "bosses" in the fight (like Conclave) where they'll need each of the death yells so that it tracks regardless of which one dies last.

cool. Can you let us know here when it's up and ready to download (so we get a "thread replied to" email) .. we're raiding again in a couple of days time so it would be nice to take it out for a spin ;-)
I notice that you've added the raid to the raid progression page/widget which is great, but (a) it doesn't appear to have a graphic behind it and (b) on our site it's still not fitting correctly and I can't work out why ... any ideas?
I've just realised, as well, that the new raid in WoW, Battle for Dazar'alor, is not available on the raid progression widget. Is this going to get updated?
As an aside .. the problem I mentioned back in September with regard to the widget width not showing correctly on our site .. is still a problem.
