Guild Launch Profiler - Calendar Import Alpha Release
Greetings Everyone,
NOTE: This doesn't import to the site yet. It's an Alpha testing release of the mod.
I've finished an Alpha version of the Guild Launch Profiler for WoW that includes support for getting in-game calendar information out of WoW.
You can find this version here:
http://support.guildlaunch.com/gwiki/index.php?page_name=Guild_Launch_Profiler&gid=535&page_id=621
Remember, this is an Alpha. The purpose of use releasing an Alpha version of the mod this way is so that people can run the mod and send us the upload file at support@guildlaunch.com so we can see some data from actual users. The data isn't currently uploadable and we have no definite date for when it will be updatable.
Also note that at this time we are not planning to provide any calendar "synchronization". Synchronizing is a whole different ball of wax than displaying the in-game events on the web calendar. This version is focused on displaying the events from in-game on the web calendar. Neither Blizzard, nor Group Calendar, provides the necessary hooks for true synchronization. Primarily, they fail, in the areas of signups and such. We don't want to have to limit our web based feature set to fit into what they do, but we do want to provide a way for you to use the in-game calendar and to display those events on the web.

So it's only a one-way transfer from Game to Guild Launch?
Bummage as was hoping there's be a way to synch it with the armory as well so it could be done automatically. Understandable since we'd have to provide our WoW account information (even in the Admin panel) to get that to work...also since Blizzard doesn't even support Armory to Game transfer yet the code's probably not there, hehehe...
Still, disappointing they only went halfway with this feature so that it basically can't be used well...

To give you an example. The way blizzard wrote the API, you would have to click on each calendar event in order for us to get it's description and detail info such as signups. You would have TO CLICK them. Yeah, not going to work. We can get all the titles when you open the calendar, but not the descriptions.

I have to say I'm so impressed already with your attention to customers.
We were in conversation just a few days ago with support - told them we were interested in a mod that showed the group calendar info - and boom! You're developing a new build.
Importing just the event titles to the guildsite is more than adequate for us, since we use the in-game sign-up, but wanted to let guildies visiting the site have an overview of what's happening, and allow allied guilds to contact us about stuff they were interested in attending.
Thanks very much for listening to your customers!

they are really really really brilliant for customer support
jut dont dig toooooo deep in the forums
the desire and concept has been thrown around in many different ways for a while it is literally only recently that a standard has been set with wow providing their own in game calender that a standard has been set for them to work with and scheduled updates to that feature with expected release dates that such a feature can be realised with the range of mods and the frequent development and updates most of which were unpredictable and wide ranging in changes it simply wasnt realistic to support them all.

Is this mod still viable for calendar import. Judging by the forums i am not the only one who wants to use it. I have a means of exporting the in game calendar in an icalendar format. But there doesnt appear to be any import features in the website. I'm willing t be a guinea pig!
This is a great idea, but I think GL may have gone about it the wrong way. Blizzard implemented a calendar function into the armory that is editable and does affect the in game calendar. Also along this line there is a feature where the armory can send the calendar to web calendars and desktop calendars such as Google Calendar and iCalendar via rss feed. Doing this you also retain functionality.
With this outlook, alls GL would have to do is tie the login to the armory.
