Guild Launch News
RELEASE: GL V. 5.2 - PlayXpert, Raid Rostering & More
Greetings Everyone,
It has been about a month since our last release and Version 5.2 contains some important targeted new features and feature enhancements. We are also proud to announce our release of the Guild Launch PlayXpert Signature Build!
The PlayXpert tool is a major advancement in how you can interact with Guild Launch. PlayXpert allows you to run a program that provides an overlay in-game complete with a web browser and other tools that will allow you to use your Guild Launch site in-game with no Alt-Tab and without leaving the game.
The PlayXpert tool is a major part of an initiative here at Guild Launch to provide our members with more seamless access to Guild Launch tools. The PlayXpert client will work in any game and on any system running Windows XP. Vista & 64-bit compatability are slated for January 2009.
Note: I am going to do a mini-release soon with an addition to be able to set widgets to show "everywhere" on your site for people using widgets for navigation. It just didn't make it into this release due to time constraints.
Release Notes Guild Launch Version 5.2
New Features
PlayXpert
PlayXpert is a major step forward in bringing Guild Launch tools and a myriad of tools in-game. PlayXpert uses advanced overlay technology to provid e this functionality. The Guild Launch Signature Build is branded with a Guild Launch look and feel and will let you run any function of your website without leaving the game. It is truly a revolutionary experience and we are proud to be parternering with PlayXpert to bring this functionality to our users.
Users can now opt-in to register for PlayXpert when they create an account. PlayXpert requires an additional account with PlayXpert but we've made it easy to register by auto-registering you (if you opt-in) using the first part of your email address and your Guild Launch password. When you register you will receive a simple reminder email of your user name.
If you are a current user there is a new "Tools" tab on your user profile page will allow you to create an account with PlayXpert and download the client.
We will provide any and all support that we can, but the PlayXpert site has user forums where support can be found also. Those forums as well as more info are available at http://www.playxpert.com/
Raid Roster
The "Raid Active" setting on the Character List in the Admin area has been replaced with the Raid Roster. This is a new page in the Rapid Raid area where you active raiders are listed and can be organized into Groups (10 Man,25 Man, Tuesday Raiders, Thursday Raider, Team A, Team B, etc.) and Roles (Tank, Healer, Melee DPS, etc.). In addition, a given character can be assigned to multiple groups and roles. This functionality provides a great tool for Admins and raid leaders to organize and convey who the members of these groups are and what their current role is.
Role Based Signup Auto-Fill
There is now a new Auto-Fill option for signup groups that is based on the Raid Roster. When you create a signup groups for raid you can select a Group and Role within that group to Auto-Fill that signup group with when people signup. A character will be auto assigned to only one group and signups will be auto filled based on the order the role appears on the raid roster. So sorting "Melee DPS" above "DPS" will cause the group with Melee DPS to be filled before the DPS group.
As before, manual group assignment is completely up to the admin.
Enhancements
Ranks & Rank Synchronization
* The ranks page now has better indication of the sort order of the ranks. Including a "Lowest Rank" and "Highest Rank" indicator.
* The sort buttons for ranks have been relabeled to be more clear as to whether clicking the button will make the rank "higher" or "lower" rather than "up" and "down" from the pages perspective.
* Rank Synchronization from Characters -> Members will now use the character with the highest rank to assign to the Member.
ItemStats
* EQ1 items now display an icon in the Rapid Raid widget and other places that an icon is used
* EQ1 items with Apostrophes now display properly.
General
* Applications now display the date the application was submitted.
* The Members list in Admin now displays a sortable "Last Login" column.
Raid Imports
* The fact that characters must be on the same server as the guild to import properly has been clarified on the Raid import pages.
Rapid Raid Leaderboard
* WoW Tier 7 has been added to the leaderboard.
* Death Knights have been added where appropriate on the leaderboard.
Signups & Account Creation
* The form for account creation has been streamlined.
* Users may now opt-in for a monthly Guild Launch newsletter. We will be providing another opt-in method for existing users in a later release. Signing up for this monthly newsletter will not be any sort of spammy junk, it will be purely a "What's happening at Guild Launch" sort of communication. Users can leave the list at any time.
Character Profiles
* The character profiles for WoW characters have been reworkd. Primarily the images used have been tweaked so they don't contain extraneous info.
* The avatar uploaded for a WoW character has been moved to the middle of the character viewing box.
* We have made the Spec and General Info (Health, Mana, Rage, etc.) more visually appealing.
* The items for a character are now listed in the Update area for the character so that you can refresh the items on your character quickly if the Item hovers are incorrect or missing icons.

* The Quests tab on the character profile pages for WoW characters now list other members of the guild on the same quest.
Holiday Season
* We now have a holiday theme on the Guild Launch homepage.

Bug Fixes
* We have improved some instructions and verbiage related to custom CSS uploads to make the usage of this feature more clear.
* Links to images with urlencoded characters now work properly in the gallery.
* The Lytebox functionality can now be used in the Wiki.
* Member admins can now import Warhammer rosters using the mod. Previously only site Admins could do this.
* When adding recurring raids with signup deadlines the signup deadline is now correctly applied to the recurring raids. The time will remain the same.
* The leaderboard now has correct Death Knight info.

Can we get the following implemented on the wish list:
The usefulness is for example the majority of priests may be healers...if you have a dozen priests in the group, maybe a few may be shadow spec but for the most part, clicking "select all priests" would save some mouse clicks.
The Select All would be useful for eligibility towards multiple groups...it's easier to click the people not eligible than those eligible as that's usually a lower number.
- The ability to "Select All" in the raiders designation list.
- The ability to select a particular class in the raiders designation list

I keep getting this message when I try to create the username and password:
Quote:
The password has 4 letters and 4 numbers, any ideas?
The provided password contains non-printable characters and is invalid.

That should work now.

Also, can i suggest a nice big signup button for raiders to be able to hit, instead of users that have to know to click on the little signup link.
Thanks, Matt
Thanks, Matt
I'm having a bit of trouble with registering myself.
It says we're auto-registered with the first part of our e-mail and our Guild Launch password.
I enter the information and still get the invalid password message...
For example, if my email address is xyz@test.com and my GL password is SuperStud, would not the PlayXpert password be xyzSuperStud? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong...

Vista and 64-bit support are coming in January. The tool will run in Vista 32-bit, but it won't overlay.
