Guild Launch News
RELEASED - Version 2.8 - Release Notes - Guild Applications
We will be releasing Version 2.8 of Guild Launch on Thursday October 18th. This release contains bugfixes and a major feature enhancement to the guild application process. This release once again contains enhancements to the Application and user Signup process. We recognize that guilds and users spend alot of time with this functionality and we are always working to improve it.
Major Features
Dynamic Guild Application
We have added an "Advanced" option to the guild application. The advanced mode will allow a guild master or person with member rights to use a dynamic form builder to create a form with the following abilities:
1. Seperate fields (not one big textbox like it is now) - you will no longer be Crit for 4,000 by Wall Of Text
2. Required and non-required fields - some things are more important than others
3. Yes/No, True/False, and Dropdown Selections - quick answers to questions
4. Text Area fields - sometimes things need more info
5. Unlimited fields - who you choose to torture with your app is your own choice
With the combination of the above you will be able to create much more advanced and custom guild applications as well as require fields of your choice. Gone will be the "Wall of Text" and it will be replaced by a sleek dynamically built web form.
The results will then be presented to you along with their application in Admin and in the forum post along with more formatting which will allow you to pick out the answers from the text more easily.
Final Fantasy XI Widgets
We have added 2 widgets for Final Fantasy XI. Both widgets are for a Vana'Diel Clock Flash file that shows the timing of many aspects of Final Fantasy XI such as when stores are open, moon phases, etc. We have included both version 2 and version 3. Version 2 is largely in English, while Version 3 has some features that many people like but it is in Japanase. Both can be activated at the same time.
Game Specific Icons
We have added Icons to the Guild Character Roster and to the Guild Summary for the classes and races of World of Warcraft. We will be expanding the use of these icons going forward for all games.
If you know of somewhere we can get similar sized icons for your game and games other than WoW for the classes and races please let us know by sending us an email at support@guildlaunch.com and we will get them into the application.
Enhancements
1. The message given to users who attempt to sign up for raids who don't have characters has been changed so that guild members will be told more specifically what they need to do. Currently they are told they need to be a member of the guild which is wrong, they just need to add a character to their account.
2. We have clarified the wording on the Create Account/Apply to Guild page to more succintly indicate to users that they need to "Apply" to get forum access, even if they are a member of the guild in-game.
3. Major enhancements have been made all around to the Create Account/Apply page so it should be clearer to users and easier to work with.
4. We believe we have tracked down and fixed a major source, if not *the* source of the "No Post Mode Specified" errors and we have changed the Guild Launch BBCode extensions in response. All Guild Launch BBCode extensions are now available in a dropdown on the posting form. Selecting text then selecting an item from the dropdown is equivalent to clicking the button in the current setup.
Bug Fixes
1. We've fixed a bug where you could not remove the "Post Applications to a Forum" setting.
2. Editing a guild application post will no longer result in broken and improperly formatted text.
3. Zero Sum values for raid events will now be calculated for imported events.
4. Birthdays can now be entered properly all the way back to the early 1900s.
5. The correct "Base GP" values are now exportable with the rapid raid export.
We hope you all enjoy the new functionality, we've been working on some other cool stuff that will be out in early November. I'm sure I'll post a sneak peak for that when it comes time.
Enjoy!
Stephen

The drop down list and Yes/No questions in the application cannot be toggled to be required or not...can you make them toggle-able?
Also, for the drop down lists is the first option the first thing they see or is it left blank so they have to fill it in? Hard to see without being able to fill one out even though the preview is nice not 100% certain we see what they'll see...
EDIT: OK, I see that if you add a ", " prior to the list it will leave the first box blank, so that works...
EDIT: Another problem I see is when you edit a drop-down list you can only edit the QUESTION, not the drop down list...

Yes/No fields are required by default. They are radio buttons, one of the answers has to be submitted.
The edit button is for the question. If you need to adjust the items or the required state then you need to delete it and readd it.

Which is the default? yes or no?
I would PREFER it be NOTHING; however, if there's a choice, NO because one of the few yes/no questions would be something along the lines of "Have you read the guild's charter/rules"...if it defaults to no, it's pretty useless.

Ok... I changed the Yes/No to default to no selection and I readded the required field. If it is required then the user must make a selection. If not required then they don't have to.

Did you just add the mouseovers to the images? I SWEAR they were not doing that when I posted above...
