Build 299 of Version 1.6 Released
We are releasing Build 299 of Version 1.6 shortly. This release has a few new features and bugfixes. Build 299 will probably be the last release of the Version 1.6 series. We are preparing a larger release for mid May that will probably be designated Version 2.0. Minor enhancement and bugfixes will still be released between now and then.
In This Release
Major Features
Recruiting By Class
You can now enter a class name and a number in Admin and have the "Recuiring Needs" posted to your homepage under the "Apply to Guild" link.
We made this functionality free form to give our users the greatest degree of flexibility that we could. You can enter anything as a "class" name up to 25 characters. We chose this method to allow you to enter things like "Hobbit Burglar Only 2" or "Protect Warrior 1" "Shadow Priest 2" as opposed to just limiting you to the official class names in the game.
WoW Armory Character Roster Import Synchronization
There is now an optional checkbox on the WoW Roster Import that will allow you to Synchronize your roster. This option will delete all unclaimed characters on the Roster that are not found in the Armory.
Known Issue: Late in the testing phase we found an issue where if you run the synchronization and the Armory is not up then all your unclaimed characters may be deleted. If this happens, they will return on the next successfull import. We will address this issue in a release tomorrow.
Enhancements
1. The Who's Online link can now be set to be visible by guild members only on the Content Tab.
2. The Guild Bank link can now be set to be visible by guild members only on the Content Tab.
3. The Wiki link can now be removed from the primary navigation on the Content Tab.
4. We have streamlined what JavaScript loads when in order to reduce the bandwidth used on some pages.
5. Link Underlines have been readded so that links show better in certain templates. Mostly in the redux series. You should now have underlines on links in the forums so you can see the links more clearly.
6. The section links are now sortable.
7. Users are now better informed about where they need to go to upload their character data. Namely, the initial character page mentions the profile mod if the character is a WoW character.
Ordering & Rebilling & Cancellations Etc.
1. The Admin->Guild Hosting Properties page now tells you how many days are left on your subscription.
2. We have adjusted how cancellations and upgrades are handled. In order to upgrade or downgrade service the subscription owner must cancel the subscription with PayPal then return to the Guild Hosting Properties page where they can create a new subscription with the new details. When a site's hosting is cancelled the subscription can immediately be recreated on the Guild Hosting Properties page. If their is time left on the existing subscription then the new subscription will be adjusted to have a free period of time covering the already paid for period. These changes are due to customer requests regarding how we handle PayPal subscriptions and due to quirks in how PayPal handles subscription changes.
3. Users can no longer order Ventrilo or Domain Pointer services during the order process. Instead these services are ordered as seperate subscriptions on the Guild Hosting Properties page. This is so that the subscriptions can be maintained seperately and a user will not have to cancel their hosting to cancel their ventrilo accoutn and Vice Versa. Domain hosting was seperated so that we could educate the users more about that process.
Bug Fixes
1. We fixed a bug where when certain errors occured in character profiler uploads a blank page will be displayed. The correct error will now be shown.
2. We found a bug in mySQL and a runaway process that was effecting the scalability of our site during heavy load. These issues have been resolved. You should notice the site being significantly more responsive during high traffic times (1-3 eastern & late afternoon).
3. A bug was fixed which caused guilds on servers with dashes in their name to not import properly.
