NOTICE: Future Server Changes (Load Balancing)
Guild Launch is growing, and to accomodate that growth we are growing our server architecture as well. Guild Launch will be moving to a load balanced architecture before the end of the year.
Why is this necessary?
Guild Launch is commited to providing the highest level of support and reliability. As we grow we need to grow our ability to handle our customers. We are currently ahead of the growth curve and that is where we intend to stay. All of this is part of the natural progression.
Guild Launch started on 2 dedicated servers and is currently running on 5 dedicated, but independent, servers.
What will you be changing?
We will be load balancing the web machines, increasing the database capacity and placing some additional dedicated security hardware into the configuration.
What will this accomplish?
You will have even faster server response, more redundancy, even better uptime, increased security and Guild Launch will be able to accomodate most hardware changes with zero downtime. In addition, this new server architecture will be more readily able to grow without requiring downtime or reconfiguration of the architecture.
How will this effect you?
There should be no ill-effect for any of our members. Any downtime should be in off hours and less than an hour, we hope to be able to cut over with 0 downtime.
What if I have a domain?
We believe that the transition to the new architecture will result in changing the IP address of the primary Guild Launch web server, but we are trying to work it out so that doesn't happen. If you have purchased our domain pointing service then we will be sending emails to you in the next couple of weeks with details on how to change your A Record to point to the new server. In addition we will provide other information about the transition.
Changing the A Record will be the only change that is required. These changes should require no downtime and be transparent. However, due to factors out of our control with DNS propogation some downtime may occur. We will be sending out these emails one week before the planned cutover.
To Sum it Up
Moving to a load balanced setup is an important phase of Guild Launch's growth and it will be as transparent to our members as we can possibly make it. We're incredibly excited here at Guild Launch to be making this change. If you have any questions regarding this please email us at support@guildlaunch.com and we can address your questions directly.
