Guild Awards - Request for Input
Greetings,
We are currently scoping and desiging a Guild Award system. Your input is very much appreciated. Currently the following is our high level plan:
1. There will be an admin area for creating awards. Admins can associate images, text, etc.
1a. Awards can be deactivated.
1b. Awards can be granted to Members or Characters
2. There will be an Awards area in the Guild Roster section that will list the current awards granted. As well as the current awards that are attainable.
3. Awards for the guild will show somewhere in the user's/character's profile area.
4. The award system is an optional feature. If it is disabled then the info won't show on the user profile or the character profile and the page won't show in the Roster section.
Any other feedback is very much appreciated. If you can also provide relative importance for your feedback that helps us in planning.
Enjoy!
Stephen

Our past host, guildportal, had an awards system. However, I never was creative enough to actually use it. It's one of those "options" where if we had enough admin type of people with enough time on their hands, it would be fun, but for just me, it's one more "task" to keep track/ up with - "like promotions."
I can see it having an association with DKP or achievements, or wacky guild set honors, but again, Just not creative/ focused in this area to put regular time into maintaining this for our members.
There was a "guild" spotlight that guildportal instituted, that had a little award picture you could put on your site- sites were picked by a) the guildportal crew, and b) suggestions via email form. Sadly, they were inconsistent with their "rules" for it.
Hmm.. what other kind of feedback were you looking for?

There are three kinds of award that I see:
- One that is given to many people over time and can be awarded many times to the same person and have limited validity ("employee of the month" type thing)
- One that is active only on a single person at once
- One that is similar to titles in Warcraft - you earn it and then you keep it
For the middle category, I'm thinking of our "Noob of the week" award - past winners have included the guy who pulled a boss in Black Temple by dropping a spoon on his keybord, or the tank whose shield broke as soon as we engaged Illidan.
For the former I'm thinking almost an "employee of the month" award - something like "Top DPSer", "Best Tank", etc.
An 'award summary' widget would be good to report on the latest awards given, or on the current holder of a particular award. We always display 'Noob of the week' on our home page, for example - via a custom HTML at the moment
Hope these thoughts are of use!

This sounds like a great idea to bring the community
more together and feeling apart and also competition
Speaking of competition and updates i suggest putting
an arcade to give awards to the highest score on a seperate
link as a forum giving awards and realesing a new mini arcade
every update or so..

Oooh this is really interesting. I just started a Guildie of the Week where I give away the lower level loot cards to the winner. A guild site award would be really cool! Cant wait!

Each award should have a
-name
-description
-title (optional) given to the recipient.
-picture(optional)
-value (default 1) how much award points the award is worth
I suggest that members can "equip" awards.
That way the title and picture that comes with the award is shown in the forum, as well as the total amount of awards points achieved.

We're definitely implementing points/titles and equipability.

It'd be cool if there are configurable "achievements" (gold stars for example, which would be greyed out unless the award is achieved) to give an example on a member sheet.
Has lead a successful Ulduar raid
Has donated more than 100g to the guild bank
Would be something we would use. it'd be nice if it could be grouped per in game guild ranking system OR configuarable groups/teams.
