Guild Launch News
Version 7.1 Release on Monday, May 17th
Greetings,
Today we have released Guild Launch Version 7.1. This version contains awesome widget enhancements as well as improvements to Rapid Raid navigation and other changes.
More details are here: http://www.guildlaunch.com/blog/?p=145
The issue with Last Raid dates for Alt/Main pairs has been fixed. The last raid date shown on the Members list will be for the Main.
Note on Browser Caching: Some users were experiencing the new customization panel not working due to browser caching. We've made a change on our end that should result in all browsers recaching the site's JavaScript and this issue should go away.
Enjoy!
Stephen

Were u guys planning to use the scriptaculour + prototype scripts to implement the drag n drop functionality u spoke of? If so, kudos to you guys cos i can now use the same script to implement my text color fading (along with other cool stuff like image shaking, pulsating div boxes etc...)! The behaviour script that i originally used for that worked fine for some elements but not so for others. Behaviour.js + a fading script didnt seem to work for your menu bar due to some classes/id nesting fault (i think there was too much overlap or smth...it was just erratic and the code too spaghetti >.>)

Not yet, but we have customization changes coming in 7.2 and with those changes you should be able to.

Please tell me that we are able to resize the left and right widget columns to make them wider. It's been a requested feature for quite some time now.

In the video it shows the link in the Admin Bar as Mode: Configure Widgets | > Preview however the site I look after shows the Admin Bar as Mode: Widgets | Preview and neither of these links seem to work - is this intended or have I missed something.
I am currently using Firefox 3.6.3 if thats any help

Could you also give us an option to use any forum name that we want for a specific guild. It's frustrating to figure out who people are when they're forced to use some awkward name in place of their actual character's name because someone else in another guild has the same name. It's kind of counter productive that guild launch even works that way.

Users, with the slightest bit of creativity, can find a unique name that still has their character name in it. The most often is to append a guild tag. So "Name of My Warrior" becomes "Name of My Warrior <TAG>". Our system allows spaces and most special characters instead of just numbers and letters, so there is a wealth of ways to differentiate.
Beyond that, global usernames are quite common in all of the largest online systems. In our specific case it lets us do a lot that we couldn't do otherwise. This allows users to join multiple sites with a single account, to PM members of other sites, to visit another site and post without joining it. EVentually it will allow better alliance functionality, better guest raiding functionality, and even better recruiting functionality. Most visibly of all it lets a user do all of that without "Name of My Warrior" replying to themselves because they are actually two different people. *That* would be really counterproductive.
In addition, on a per site basis we do let users pick a character to show under their name when they post. This option is available on the guild's tab on the user profile.
We are working on ways to keep the global username and to enhance the presentation of a guild specific name. We're definitely open to ideas on that sort of functionality. If you would like to continue the discussion perhaps we can open another thread and talk about it outside of this release announcement?

I don't see which forums are updates anymore by their icon color. Only when I click them, I see which posts are updated.
Also this popup to edit the widget doesn't seem to work in IE8 and works in IE8 with compatibility mode, but doesn't allow resizing and goes behind some other content (widget on the right side).

The popup isn't resizable. The popup works fine in IE8 and all of the major browsers. For some reason another script you have on your homepage is interfering with the functionality though. If you navigate off of your homepage you can see that they work fine. The functionality works fine on all of my test sites in IE8 as well.
I will do some research on your site try to track down the source of the issue, but it's almost definitely related to a script or something you have running on your homepage.
The old widget page is still available in the Admin area.
I do see the issue with the content pushing over to the column a bit. I will research that as well. It only seems to happen when in Widget edit mode.

It seems some users are encountering a caching issue. If you Shift+Refresh it should take care of it.

It's working now - no idea why or what was not allowing the script to work - but ooooo pretty colours
