ANNOUNCE: Template Changes in 3.4
In Version 3.4 of Guild Launch we are implementing some very low level changes to how our templates are rendered. The primary reason is to ensure performance and stability under load and as our load increases. The changes may make pages load a touch faster on the individual level and will help keep the pages loading quickly under unusually high load (such as game server downtime, etc.).
The site doesn't currently exhibit any problems related to this, we just believe in being proactive. We've got a good deal of instrumentation into performance of the site and we've determined this change will give us some long term payback on the scalability side of the application.
What does this mean for you? Well, we've been testing the changes for more than a week and they look good, but we want to make you all aware of these changes ahead of time so you can help us out if something doesn't work quite right. The templates have alot of moving parts and sometimes real world situations such as exact widget positions, specific text choices, etc. all collude to impact how they render.
So, we hope to do this release on Friday morning, if you see anything quirky on your template, please let us know. I really do expect there to be zero issues, but I also believe in soliciting our community's help in ensuring the best quality we can provide.
Thanks,
Stephen
