SNEAK PEAK: Version 3.5 - WoW Web Stats Support
Yes, you're reading that right in Version 3.5 due out at the end of the week we will be introducing support for uploading of the output from the WoW Web Stats standalone client. The implementation will be the following:
1. On the raid detail page will be added a "WWS" link for each event that will allow you to the view the WWS output for that boss fight.
2. On the raid detail page will be added an "upload WWS" link that will allow you to pick an event to upload the info for and a place to upload the file.
The way this will work is that you put the output of WWS into a zip file, then click on the "Upload WWS" on the Raid Detail page then select the event and the file and upload it.
After it is uploaded a "WWS" link will appear next to the boss name, clicking that will take you to the WWS page nicely contained within your site's template. This feature will only be available for paid subscriptions and the storage for the files will be part of the plan's storage. The files are pretty small though and the images for WWS will be centralized and won't count against plan storage quotas.
It's fun.

Well, hopefully he revamps his code. I expect he will. Either way, so long as his files output something we can make it work. We're just setting up a way to host the files, not processing them.

I'm also considering adding a "WWS Link" option for the raid. That way you could deep link into the hosted WWS and we would wrap it in a frame on the guild site. So we have options. The main problem is that giant header on his site and that it isn't really setup to be put into a 900 or so pixel space.

He seems to be saying that he will be reworking the client for 2.4:

With the release of WoW patch 2.4, we will release a new WWS client, the client v2. The Client v1 won't be upgraded, and will be unable to parse 2.4 logs. The Client v2 won't be able to generate static reports, only to host them.
This will be the end of self-hosted WWS reports. However, some people still use the static reports, and we don't want to deprive them of this feature. So we are about to release the WWS Client v1 in Open Source, using a GNU-like license. Everybody will then be free to use, enhance and redistribute future versions of the Client v1. We will also be ready to help and support an "official" Client v1. This help could range from providing servers and forums, to sharing some pieces of v2 or server code.
So we're looking for someone who would like to be project-manager on such an Open Source WWS Client software. This person will have good knowledge of Java, and experience of team work using tools like SVN or Mantis. This person will know that maintaining an Open Source project is not just a matter of coding something for oneself on one's machine, but to gather needs, make solid and versatile implementations, integrate work from other people, perform tests, deploy, collect user feedbacks, fix bugs, etc, etc...
If you're interested in the challenge, please apply here.
If we don't find a suitable project-leader, it will be the end of Client v1.

We'll see what happens. I expect someone will snap up the code and make it work with 2.4. I'll look into our options as far as taking over the code base and moving it forward. It's a shame WWS won't be providing the standalone functionality directly.
For now, I'll continue working on the functionality. As I said, we're only going to be hosting the files not processing them. So whatever is output by whichever client we can make work with minimal effort.

I've done some more research, and we are exploring rolling our own raid stats mod or possibly taking the WWS open source client and going with that. Due to this, I've modified this Rapid Raid feature to only support assigning an external info link to any raid.
Though it's a change to the feature in many ways it opens up more power and flexibility because you can link to any site with data you want to associate with a raid. You could use it to link boss strategies for new bosses, WWS Hosted pages, another online stat system or just about anything you wish.
The Add Raid page will now have a spot for an optional Link Title and a Link URL much like the navigation item UI. The link, with the title, will be placed under the "Signup for this Raid" link on the raid details page. The link will actually go to a special page on the guild site that will load the designated URL into an IFRAME. Essentially allowing you to associate any external page you want with any raid you want and to keep the page within your sites template and look & feel.
This will provide alot of flexibility for how you use it. If you have WWS hosted you can link to the raid on the hosted site, if you use the client you can upload the client data anywhere you wish and then link to it, if you use some other package you can link to that, if you have a forum post related to the raid you can link to that, etc.
