Calendar Raid Icons - Input Needed
I am currently implementing our calendar raid icons functionality for Guild Launch Version 3.7. The way this is done is if the raid name matches some text then it will be shown. Below is the list of text that qualifies for each macth. If you know of some instance abbreviations that I missed, let me know:

We're using Blizzard's raid calendar icons. When they add Sunwell we'll jump on it. Once the system is in place for the icons adding one is more or less trivial.

I think the difficulty on this one is that you're trying to anticipate how people might list the raid instances to make sure you catch it.
It might actually be simpler for you to (at least for WoW guilds towards which this is aimed) alter the raid/calendar listing so that there is maybe a drop down box with multiple choices of raids. Each instance could have the name and location pre-set and generate the raid icon from that. You could have the fill-in boxes still there or available under an "Other" option to take care of any non-standard guild events or new instances that come out, but it would simplify how your system would generate the raid icon. If they select "Other" and input their own info, they just get no raid icon.

It's actually not that bad. I have the benefit of being able to look in the database and most people put the instance name into the raid name field. So they may type "Mount Hyjal - Night 1" but we'll catch that the same way we would "Mount Hyjal". So the match won't need to be exact.
Also, even if we add a dropdown we still need the above functionality *and* with the text matching we'll be able to use it for events where the "raid" dropdown isn't exactly applicable.
So, even if we do a dropdown to choose the raid, we still need the functionality. Also, I've noticed that even though alot of people enter the instance name as the raid name, rarely do they put just that so this would imply that many people would be displeased with only having a dropdown as an option, meaning we need the above functionality even more.
yeah, writing functionality to please the most people is fun.

On our server:
Gruul's Lair - Gruuls
Mount Hyjal - Hyjal
Tempest Keep - TK; there is no differentiation between Tempest Keep and Tempest Keep: The Eye, as The Eye is the only raid in Tempest Keep.
Serpentshrine Cavern - SSC
Naxxramas - Naxx (with 2 "x's")

For people who aren't playing WoW, this change absolutely stinks! Our calendar currently shows no names for any raid event since it isn't on your list. This needs to be fixed ASAP as it creates a broken calendar when the name isn't found in your list.
I would suggest displaying the name of the event if the name of the event isn't associated with a image.

Is it possible to remove this for people who aren't playing WoW?
My kin loves your site but you have completely broken our calendar for LOTRO. We would love it if the raid name doesn't match the set list that it posts the raid name instead of the picture. Or in our case leaves it blank.

Sorry guys, As you can imagine it wasn't our intent to change anything relating to the way the calendar behaves for other games. That was just a mistake. It should be fixed now, please let me know if you see any other issues.

Is there an option to not use the icons, and display the text instead?
My guild has two Karazhan groups running each week on various days, and I label them "Karazhan Group 1" and "Karazhan Group 2"
I'd like those text strings to show on the calendar instead of the (less useful imo) icons. Can this be done without resorting to name mangling?
I hope so. I don't want to raid K4razhan or Carazan...
Help!

For the time being, the actual name is shown on the hover for the icon however. And the name without the icon is shown in the itenerary view. So, while the difference between Kharazan Group 1 and 2 isn't immediately obvious the user can figure it out pretty readily.

Yes I did notice the names when you mouse-over the icons, but it's less usable to have to point at the icon and wait for the label to show up than to simply show the text of the calendar event.
See for yourself. How quickly can you determine which nights Karazhan Group 2 is raiding?
Event name should accompany the raid icon, or the the raid icons should be optional.

I added to my comment after you posted, or before you finished replying. I said "currently" because the feature is being looked at and I was just told that we've already added the name back in for the next release by one of the other developers. I try not to tell people "it's in the next release" until it is in the code base and ready for testing, which means it will go out with the next release with 99.9% assurity.
