Guild Launch News
Site Suggestion Box
Today we have added a new widget called 'Suggestion Box'. This widget allows the following capability.
1. Users can submit text that is only visible by A. Themselves B. Admins and Members of Permission Group with the 'Polls & Suggestions' right.
This means that users can submit semi-private suggestions to the guild.
The widget looks like this:
All widgets have a title, but this widget supports 3 important additional configuration elements:
1. A configurable 'Action' - meaning you can make the widget say 'Submit Suggestion' or 'Submit Candidate' or 'Submit Idea'
2. Permissions to view are controlled by the Polls & Suggestions permission (this is a tackon to the Polls permission)
3. The ability for users to see their own suggestions
This is a brand new widget developed based on consistent user feedback that this type of widget would be useful. We've implemented the core idea of the widget and your feedback is very much appreciated if you think it needs adjustment.

Excellent feature.
One question however. Is there any way to allow users to post anonymously? I think some users would like the option to post anonymous suggestions as well.
To clarify, I mean like a toggle they can select to make their suggestion completely anonymous to even the site admin/GM.

An anonymous option is planned as well as commenting and the ability to mark a suggestion resolved. We got the core functionality done and we liked it so we went ahead and released it.

Great work! Suggested this awhile ago and been waiting for it forever... Thanks again guildlaunch, you are the best!

Ok just noticed something. Is there a way to delete comments or have it notify the right people when there is a pending comment or suggestion in the box?

How would you want notifications to happen? Would you want anyone with Poll & Suggestion permissions to receive a notification?
Deletes, and 'commenting' are coming. We originally envisioned it more like a message board, but we think a 'resolved' button is better now that we've seen it in action.

I don't know about the whole anonymous thing. I think that might lead to a lot more keyboard crusaders slamming people without giving the accused a chance to defend themselves so to speak. I agree with being anonymous to the public but I feel the GM or site owner should have access to this information.
Excellent feature.

To me the whole point of a suggestion box is to be able to post anonymously. If they want the GM to know who is leaving the message then they can just send a PM or in game mail instead. It's up to you as a GM or admin to decide how to treat each message.

Perhaps, if some people want the ability for others to post anonymously, there should be an option on the widget to "allow anonymous posting" that admin can either select, or not select.
Personally, I don't see the need for it to be completely anonymous .. what would be so bad that they didn't want their GL/admin to see who posted it?

I agree with that.... maybe anonymous to the public but the Site Creator should have access to that information. I totaly agree with this 100%

Yes this method would work. And I support the whole "Anonymous" posting. That's what it should be by default. You shouldn't have to leave a name or "address" per say on any comment card... But the flip side is most places with comment cards will take your comment more seriously if you leave contact information...
But anyways.... Thanks again guildlaunch!

I like this new widget
But it shows wrong time of entries - it's in USA timezone instead of user or guild timezone.
