RELEASE: Version 3.9.1 - Secret Questions & Raid Auditin
Today, we are happy to announce the release of Guild Launch version 3.9.1. This is a small release for two features:
1. Secret Question/Secret Answer Based Password Resets
2. More Rapid Raid auditing
Secret Question/Secret Answer
Due to issues with Hotmail and LiveMail we have been looking into other ways to handle password resets. We have settled on using Secret Questions as the method for password reset. More info can be found here:
http://support.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=757647
Things you should know:
1. If you already have an account, you have no questions and answers set. Until you set them, you will only have email based resets available to you.
2. All new accounts will need to choose two secret questions and secret answers. We've chosen questions that are hard to guess from publicly available information.
3. You only get 5 chances to answer your secret questions correctly. After that, your only option is Email based resets. The purpose of this is to reduce any sort of brute force attack but provide a method where a valid user who knows the answers to the questions can reset the password without going through email.
4. You can set and modify your secret questions by going to your My User Page and clicking the "Edit Account Info" button at the top of the edit area.
More Rapid Raid Auditing
The Rapid Raid audit logs in the Admin area now show Additions, Modifications and Deletes for Items, Raid Events and Adjustments. This should allow you to see who made modifications to everything that effects a person's DKP. I will be releasing a video soon with some tips on how to get the most out of the Auditing tool.
Also Note
My own Hotmail account currently has 1847 spam mails in it, but our password resets don't get to the account. We've been working with Hotmail support and we believe we're starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel on convincing them to give their retarded spam filter a nudge in the correct direction and allow our email through, but it's taking a while to wear their support down.
The short of it is, we don't spam. We have a very low complaint rate with Hotmail, etc. they just don't like something about our setup but won't be entirely clear about it since their spam filter is based on security by obscurity. Our next step will be to ban hotmail and live adresses as many other sites that require registration have done. We are working to avoid that.

Took me a few to realize they do not show up until you click the edit button. Very good change though.

Hehe, I guess I should put a "***********" line for them to show where they are. They are hashed in the database, so we can't print your answers even if we wanted.

It's actually on the main Admin tab. Click Admin and look on the menu on the left.
