Guild Launch News
New Recruiting Section
Maybe you're a social gamer and want like-minded people... or perhaps a hardcore PvPer looking for blood. Or a raider. Or a craftsman. And you can set that to be an important term when looking for a guild with our new, updated recruiting features on The Guild Life!
You'll see the 'Find a Site' section when you visit - from here, you can set search terms for what kind of guild you are looking for. Individual guild sites can set their recruitment standards by going to the Recruiting tab of their Admin section, so an active site that's recruiting will be able to tell you what they do and if they're a good match for you!
Let us know what you think!

It's nice, but I can't turn recruitment back on. I can select the option, but can't save it

A couple things I've noticed. If you do a search by game (I did EQ2), click on a guild listed to view the site, and then hit the back button, the previously searched guilds aren't on display. If you then do the same search from this page, it lists all guilds across all games (mostly WoW guilds). I have to go to a new version of the search page to get it to work again.
Also, it seems guilds are checking off every single option so they show up on all searches, which results in listing them at the top of the search no matter what criteria you search for. This kinda seems to defeat the purpose of the search tool and puts the guilds specifically checked off for a certain play style at the bottom of the list. Eventually the list will grow so large as all guilds will just eventually do this just to show up at the top. Maybe we should have some limits on how many items we can check off to be a better reflection of the main focus of the guild?

Mystarra, the page is using Ajax, so the back button is just not playing very nice. I can work on that possibly, but the reason is that each click is not a new page, it is a new version of that page with new data on it. So, just pick your options and click 'Find Site' and then remove options and click find site, as opposed to hitting back.
Some guilds really do everything, and many even do it well. We're going to make the ranking not based purely on self assessment. There was a good amount of good natured debate (ok, argument) on this in the office, so we have some good ideas. We have additional criteria, and "secret sauce" coming out to combat the ranking effect of just clicking everything. We're building up some usage data to inform the ingredients for that secret sauce.
Our immediate goal was to improve the process of finding guilds in general. The old 'Browse' method was just not the quality or feature level that we wanted. Now that we have more functional foundational approach we will build on it.
