Feature Idea Feedback - WoW Armory Integration
Ok. As you all know the Armory is pretty cool. It has alot of interesting data, but it is not yet as complete as our mod in some ways, such as crafting information and current quest information, and more complete in other ways such as some of the different stats such melee crit and some other stats.
It is our belief that the crafting information and quest information is more useful to a guild, since that is *actual actionable information.* The crafting information allows you to see if someone can make something for you and the quest information is helpful in forming groups. We want to continue to build functionality on top of those two things, like we did the crafter search.
For this reason we would like to keep our focus on the mod for individual character data for the near term, but definitely use the Armory for some other features.
One thing we had in mind was a way to build your guild roster from the WoW armory. What would happen is this:
1. The guild admin goes to the roster and clicks "Update Roster from Armory".
2. The site automatically goes out, gets the roster list, and adds any character that isn't in the roster on the guild site. We won't remove characters because your guild may have all sorts of reasons for having unguilded characters in there, such as a bank that isn't in the guild or a multi server guild.
3. Each character that is added through this process will get a link on the roster which says something like "Claim".
4. Any guild member can browse the roster and "Claim" their characters. 4a. Doing so will assign the character to the user.
4b. Until a character is claimed it only shows up in the guild roster and in DKP, it is not shown on any particular users profile.
5. If a member creates a character of the same name, on the same server as an unclaimed character in a guild they are a member of then the character will be given to them instead of a new one being created.
The guild list will be retrieved from the armory whenever the guild master chooses to update it, or every 24 hours after the first update.
How does that sound to you all? Feedback?

That kicks some major butt!
I like that.. And I Do agree that Quest and Crafting Information is important information.

I think using the armory to update our Guilds Roster is a very useful feature to add.
I am having a little bit of difficulty first getting people to register on the website (only 31 of our 200 members have registered so far) and secondly once they do register they don't seem to be too eager to add their characters so I am not sure if they don't know how or they figure being a member is just enough. Eventually if they don't register they don't raid
The "claim your character ability" will help significantly in getting these members to add their characters and save time as well.
How will we know which characters in this list are claimed by actual registered users and which need to be claimed?
Will guild masters be able to remove unclaimed characters whenever they choose?

Oh I agree with you there. We have 200+ in our guild as well and only 10 or so have registered. But only about 1/2 have gotten there characters added. The ability to claim your toon will be a Significant help.

Along with some other smaller features it's on the top of the list. So, a weeek or a week and a half should do it.
I have to agree with the others here. As a GM of 3 (going on 4 guilds) in world of warcraft, it is all but impossible to get those members in the guilds to get the time to register for thier chars to be seen on the site roster. This just makes things 150% more accessable for all members not to mention visitors to our site.
Keep up the great work with Guild Launch, you guys are kicking some major BUTT ! ! ! ! ! !

I can't agree with this more. I would like the option to choose to use the guild launch inventory or the armory inventory to show off my character. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
The majority of our users, I think everyone in my guild would perfer to use the armory.

This sounds great! The only thing I could think of to add would be an "Update character from armory" option if the users had a hard time dealing with the addons.

It's darned handy and helps our memebrs get started. We have a set of instructions with screen shots for how to use the profiler to help them move forward.
However, I am a little confused by the fact that I am the only admin of our site, have never updated form Armory - and yet there it is. Did this start happening automatically at some point?

Have you granted member rights in admin to anyone? They can run the import too.

I love the feature, but I REALLY would like it if you could do an armory import for characters to get the bits they CAN get successfully. Equipment, for instance. Or a quick link to the Armory character page for the character.
Ideally, I'd like to either as guild master do an upload of equipment for all characters that aren't doing it themselves with the profiler, or have quick links for each character to the Armory for fast browsing of equipment from our website. Yes, you can manually go to Armory, but it's so much better if you don't have to put Guild Launch aside to do it.

Has a link been made to the above mentioned armory pages for characters gear, or an import available to import gear much like importing the roster for each character. It is hard for most players to take time to get that addon, and do the upload to keep their stuff up to date on their characters in the guild, so something like a quick link or importing the gear with the roster import from armory would be very nice to have.
