Guild Launch News
ANNOUNCE - Rapid Raid In-Game DKP Mod **ALPHA**
I have the first Alpha rev of our in-game dkp mod for WoW available here:
Version: Alpha 7
http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchRapidRaid-ALPHA7.zip
I've also created a new support forum for this mod here:
http://support.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=219558
The mod is a standalone mod, it does not need CT_RaidTracker to run.
It works like this:
First:
1. Install the mod
Then:
1. Go to your Export Data page in Rapid Raid. It is linked under the reporting heading on the left.
2. Click the Radio Button for "Guild Launch In-Game DKP Data File"
3. Then click "Generate Report". You don't need to put in any Header, Row or Footer definitions.
4. Save the file that pops up into the Addons folder. The "GuildLaunchRapidRaid" folder. It will overwrite a file that is already there.
5. Load up WoW
Once in WoW you can do the following:

Quote:
1. /t [YourName] gldkp [GuildMemberName]
You will get back the person current DKP total
You will get back the person current DKP total
Quote:
2. /t [YourName] gldkp [GuildMemberName] detailed
You will get back more info such as earned, spent, total, last 30 attendance, etc.

The basic idea is that the mod works through whispers. You whisper the keyword "gldkp" followed by a player name to a person running the mod and the mod gives you back their current DKP.
The mod is working, but it needs some more features and some refinement. So let me know if you have any feedback. I already plan to implement a window that will popup with a slash command that will let you see all of the data for all of the members in a window.
While the mod is working, I wouldn't *trust it* yet. I'd very much like people to try it out, but use whatever process you currently have as your primary source and then verify against the mod. Once this gets into Beta we will have done all the verification to make sure the numbers match as they should.
Also, keep in mind. This is a *snapshot* of your DKP. If you down a boss in the raid, the numbers returned by the mod won't change. However, you could update the website after a bosskill and rerun the export and then do a /console reloadui and the numbers will update. Also, alot of people using snapshots keep a running "plus total" of boss kills and then just add that to the snapshot value and subtract any items they've received. We'd like to get it so that it updates as you go through the raid, but as with everything we need to walk before we can run.
Remember, this is an Alpha, so expect some bugs, but please let us know what you think!
Enjoy,
Stephen
UPDATE 4/30/2008 10:15 PM EST

UPDATE 4/30/2008 10:15 PM EST
I've just released ALPHA2 of the mod. This new version contains the slash command:
Quote:
If you are running the mod, you can use that command to see all of the members DKP.
UPDATE Alpha Rev. 3 - 5/1/2008 9:57 AM EST
I've updated the mod to have alot more info on the "showmembersdkp" page. It now contains earned, spent, total, last 30 attendance and last 60 attendance. The attendance is the actual number, not the percentage, I will fix that in Rev 4
http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchRapidRaid-ALPHA3.zip
UPDATE Alpha Rev. 4 - 5/1/2008 3:14 PM EST
I've just release Rev. 4. This revisions contains updated slashcommands and whisper commands to streamline the interface. In addition, it contains the correct attendance percentage calculation.
http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchRapidRaid-ALPHA4.zip
Current Commands Are:
Guild Launch Rapid Raid Help
'/glrr show' - Shows the current DKP
Commands for Others
'/t [PlayerWithMod] glrr' - returns the BASIC DKP for the sender
'/t [PlayerWithMod] glrr [PlayerName]' - returns the BASIC DKP for the given player
'/t [PlayerWithMod] glrr detailed- returns' the DETAILED DKP for the sender
'/t [PlayerWithMod] glrr [PlayerName] detailed' - returns the DETAILED DKP for the given player
UPDATE Alpha 6 - 7:24 PM EST 5/4/2008
Alpha 6 adds alphabetic sorting to the /glrr show list. This version also fixes the issue where the last item in the /glrr show list was "hanging off the end" of the popup. Also, non EPGP display in "/glrr show" is now working. You will just need to create a new export file.
http://support.guildlaunch.com/guild/library/535/GuildLaunchRapidRaid-ALPHA6.zip
UPDATE Alpha 7 - 9:52 AM EST 5/5/2008
This release is, Alpha 7, should be our last Alpha release. I believe that the current feature set is workable and functional. We will be moving this to Beta status in the next few days.
Alpha 7 fixes two issues:
1. The "/glrr show" display will now show all data if you have more 60 or so raiders. Previously it would cut off around 64.
2. The "/t [ModUser] glrr" command was not working to return the data back to the sender. It is working now.

Now, this is where you are going to get mad at me....
IMHO, you need tons of features to make this even close to being competitive with DKPMon. The main one being an automated bid process. An automated bid process, that adjusts DKP as players win / receive loot.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to do loot during Mount Hyjal trash waves without one. It is hard to understand unless you have done them. Each boss has 8 waves, consisting of approximately 10 mobs, each one capable of dropping a very nice purple. They are timed, they do not stop coming unless you wipe. Each wave comes at (I think) a 3 minute interval.
So just storing the dkp does not get even close to what end game guilds will need. Even for casual 25 man guilds having a bid mod speeds up the loot assignment process. Less time looting == more killing == more loot.
I understand you are trying to bring a rich feature set of mods to the GL users, but the fact remains that there are already a ton out there that are feature rich, and maintained by pretty dedicated developers. Sigh, Omen for example receives updates daily, sometimes hourly.
PS. I love what you guys are doing here, and have done here. IMHO however this is a bad idea.

Oberan, who said we're trying to compete with DKPMon?
I realize that alot of high end guilds have all sorts of desires in their mods, but we also have alot of fresh raiding guilds tracking Kharazan and Tempest Keep or ZA that don't need all of that functionality. We can't be all things to all people, but we can provide some solid functionality that we can control end to end.
What we are providing is a streamlined way to get DKP data in-game that is fully supported and developed by Guild Launch. That doesn't mean we won't increase *our already existing* functionality that supports DKPMon or anything of the sort. We can support a simple path and more advanced path and still be happy with the results.
The fact is not every guild is a hardcore raiding guild. On top of that DKPMon is a difficult mod to configure. It was overwhelming for even me at first.
I'll need to evaluate where we draw the line between providing some streamlined "quick start" functionality with our own mods and where we start to develop features for other existing mods, but we can, and will, do both.

I'll be posting a "Mod Roadmap" later today. I think that will give people a clearer idea of where we are heading.
