Guild Launch News
Software Upgrade: 5/15/2008
On Thursday morning 5/15 @ 10:00am EST we will be performing a software upgrade for server software on the primary Guild Launch webservers.
This upgrade is being performed to upgrade our data caching system to a new system. This upgrade should improve caching considerabley and will remove the instances in which caches take longer than they should to expire.
This upgrade will be performed by taking servers out of the webfarm, upgrading them, then adding them back to the farm. The upgrade process should result in zero downtime for the primary Guild Launch servers, since we will move the load around the webfarm.
However, this upgrade will upgrade our primary caching system so there is always the possibility that such a low level change could cause a problem. Our upgrade method should allow us to isolate any issues to the first web server upgraded and thus reduce the overall effect.
I wanted to notify everyone so you would be aware of some possible anomalies on Thursday morning, but rest assured we have done all of the necessary testing and preperation for this release, we just like to be completely open when it comes to application changes.
