Guild Launch News
ISSUE: Site Errors - Resolved, Still Monitoring
I apologize for the unannounced downtime. I made some relatively small code changes earlier today (outlined here: http://support.guildlaunch.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=895535&gid=535) for the 4.2.1 release as a follow on to 4.2 and was eager to get them out to you all.
Well.... one of the changes was in a core application file and for some reason changing this file caused a cascade through our code caching software that it couldn't recover from due to load. So, I had to shut the site down for a few minutes and reset the code cache so it could figure out which way was up.
I apologize again for the downtime. I guess I need to learn to curb my enthusiasm. We're getting large enough now that apparently no time of the day or week is a safe time to do a code change. Particularly a Tuesday.
If you see any more white screens when using the site please let us know, but I am reasonably confident at this time that the problem is solved.

Actually Tuesday is probably the best time as WoW is patching and there are more of us using the site and problems are found quicker. Though it can be a bit bothersome they only really occur because you are trying to provide us with a better service and features. So if a little server down time happens we know you guys get on it asap and it is worth it for a far superior hosting service. I've seen some other services go down for day-weeks with no end in sight

Regardless, I went in and mass updated them to be set to "custom". That particular aspect of the feature is underused anyway and I think it will be easier to work with the people who wanted it set to homepage, than the people who need it set to custom and are being confused by today's change.

How do you do that Wood? I go to my custom links page and cannot even edit it now...
Stephen?
