Guild Launch News
Milestone 6 Updates, 6/7/2013
General
- We are very excited to roll out an overhaul to the top navigation It should make interacting with your site and other parts of the site a lot more straight forward. Here is a quick video overview of the new nav. If your nav doesn't look like this please force refresh your browser.
- Quick Reply for site forums is now available (but off by default).
- Site admins now have the ability to keep notes on their members. This can be accessed from the admin section Roster page.
- Fixed various issues surrounding our Facebook integration.
- Expanded the hover text in the admin section.
- Fixed some upload issues with the new upload system including a fix for IE10 uploads.
You may need to force-refresh your browser for the header bar to appear properly.
UPDATE 8:40 PM
I believe that other changes we have made, which fixed the Firefox issues and other desktop browser issues, have fixed the absence of the nav bar on mobile devices. However, since none of those changes were specifically intended to fix the mobile issue I want to double check.
If you were previously having issues with seeing the login options on a mobile device please do the following:
1. Clear the mobile device's cache
2. Try again!
UPDATE 11:00AM 6/8
- A change was made so that the "pulse" for notifications of PMs, pending apps, and updates will show properly in Firefox.
- We have fixed an issue leading to activity messages showing site wide, they will now be only on your site.
- I've cleaned up this thread a bit to focus only on active issues.

Just some feedback.
The notification of a PM is now hidden behind the mouseover menu on my account name. So now I won't see if I have a PM until I go to check my profile. Something I do not do very often.
I know not everybody uses guild launch exactly as I do but I am sure I am not the only one who rarely feels it necessary to change their profile.

The "person" icon next to your name will "pulse" with an orange color if you have a PM. If you aren't seeing this then clear your cache and take a look. Firefox had an issue when we first launched with showing the pulse.
If the refresh doesn't work please post your browser and version number. Thanks!

I absolutely hate the new view of the top on the website. At first everything was gone, and now it just looks stupid. The old version was much better!

I definitely appreciate the feedback. These changes were based on feedback from thousands of users over the last few years. We didn't make these changes randomly and they address major improvements in usability and ease of understanding of the nav and a major simplification of that area. In particular the removal of the entire customization bar which many users felt was a bit of an eyesore.
I hope that you will give it a bit more time to grow on you.

Good Day,
Since the this update, all of the pictures in our gallery are no longer showing. Pictures do not appear in the activity widget also. I clicked on "Convert Guild Site" in the file library to upgrade to amazon s3 hoping this might solve the issue, but the following error message is returned:
The FastCGI Handler was unable to process the request.
Error Details:
The FastCGI process exceeded configured request timeout
Error Number: 258 (0x80070102).
Error Description: The wait operation timed out.
HTTP Error 500 - Server Error.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
BTW, the new GUI is beautifully designed! Please pat the Usability Specialist/HFE and Software Engineers on the back for me.
Any assistance is helpful,
Slipheed

This is actually a different update that we have going on concurrently. We are moving all file storage to S3 which gives us bigger uploads, more space, better performance and a bunch of other benefits. For some reason your migration failed halfway through. I'm manually completing the migration and should have you good to go shortly.

I was looking into that, but I cannot reproduce it. What version of Firefox are you running?

Any info on the Firefox v21 icon bug? All of my icons are in hexadecimal instead of images. See my post above.

I see that you are running V21 actually. Do you have any nonstandard security settings? I've run your site through an external browser checker that checks about 200 browser versions and none of them display an issue with that font. However, there are browser security settings or AntiVirus that could cause an issue. Are you aware of anything you've set that isn't default?

I've figured it out. It's because I am running the NoScript addon in Firefox. It was blocking the Font object from loading.
I allowed it and problem solved.
Thanks.
