WowStead Transfer FAQ - Now with Galleries!
Yesterday (7/29/2013), Curse sent out an email announcement informing the WowStead userbase that their sites would be migrating to Guild Launch, starting on August 12th. The generalized information page can be found here: http://www.guildlaunch.com/wowstead-transfer
This thread will be updated regularly with more information as people ask it, to keep a consolidated list easily accessible to WowStead customers during this transition.
Q: How are the forums being migrated over?
A: The entire forums will be migrated over in an archived state that is viewable by the admin. The username/character name that posted the message will still be displayed. From there, the admin of the site can choose to migrate it over to an individual forum with a couple clicks. They will choose which forum to move it into, at which point it will display the old WowStead usernames/character names as Guest Posters on your Guild Launch forums.
Q: Is our account information being migrated over?
A: The username/character name will be visible, but the accounts are Curse accounts and not just WowStead accounts; you would need to create a new Guild Launch account in order to post on the forums, etc.
Q: Has the transfer begun? When will I see my image/forum data?
A: The process has begun. We will receive the updated database tomorrow morning with all the data up to this point, and our developers will spend tomorrow tying everything together. The data should be migrated over by the end of the week, but the actual process has begun at this point.
Q: Why do we only have two weeks to migrate?!
A: You don't! The data migration begins on August 12th, but WowStead sites will still be available until August 26th. No new data after August 12th will migrate over, but the site will still exist until the 26th.
Q: What will be transferred over?
A: As of this moment (updated 7/30/2013), we have confirmed that forum data, gallery data and paid site time on WowStead will be transferrable to Guild Launch. This transfer will begin on August 12th.
Q: Why do we need to transfer at all?
A: Guild Launch has access to the WowStead database, so we can pull the data over to our system, but the codebase is proprietary software of Curse. Some information, like your login data, will still be usable in the rest of the Curse network.
Basically, we have access to the data on the site, but not the code that makes the site work.
Q: Are you sure this won't take three months to complete, like when WowStead was originally transferred over to the Curse Network?
A: We are sure. A lot of the backend work was already completed while we prepared for the initial announcement of the migration, and our development team is actively working on the last few pieces to ensure that the transition runs smoothly.
Q: How do I know this is legitimate?
A: There was an email sent out from the official Curse email address informing the userbase. There was also this forum (the 'Guild Launch' transition forum) created by a WowStead mod, an announcement in WowStead's patch notes, and announcements on their social media channels.
Q: What if I didn't get the email?
A: It may have been accidentally flagged as spam by your email provider and so might be in your spam folder.
Q: Whom do I talk to about the details of this?
A: GL_Slater has come over from his usual support grounds on Guild Launch to assist with answering any questions the WowStead userbase may have during this transition. You can contact him (well, me - I'm writing this) at support@guildlaunch.com, or post in the support forums.
The WowStead support team will also be available to answer questions as well.
Q: Why does GL_Slater have a low post count?
A: GL_Slater is the support guy for Guild Launch, and hasn't spent much time on the WowStead forums. His Guild Launch post count is a teensy bit higher: https://support.guildlaunch.com/users/index.php?mode=viewprofile&gl_user=2517804&gid=535
BILLING CONCERNS
Q: Will my paid site time transfer over?
A: Yes, it will. You will also get three (3) months of additional premium site time!
Q: Wait, do you have my credit card information?
A: Absolutely not. We have not received any information like that. We have access to the amount of paid time you have left, but do NOT have your credit card information or anything along those lines.
When we say that your paid time will transfer over, it means that the amount of days you had paid for your WowStead site will transfer over during the migration that starts on the 12th.
Q: When I make my new site, it immediately brings me to an order page. What gives?
A: That's the default landing page for new sites. Your site is on a premium trial from Guild Launch until the migration starts on the 12th; do not worry about setting up a subscription or anything like that.

I never got the email, and it was never in my spam folder at all. I've opened a ticket to the curse folks to have the email resent, as well as have an open email with customer support at GL to find out my options. I'd really love to get started on copying all my stuff over manually but would like that '3 free month' thing I'm missing out on. Is there any options? Really I don't mind copying things over manually from scratch.... I swear! I don't mind, I just want the big package on a trial basis and a TS server that goes with it. But I don't want to sign up and chose a package if I have the chance at that free few months wowstead promised.
I has a pitiful and need halps.

Erm, not wanting to be blonde here, slightly panicy cos i'm not a competer genius or anything, how do i start or tell wowstead, which site is ours?
Do you mean 'blank site' as in a new Guild Launch site (with no modifications) or a white page with nothing at all?
I clicked the link, (already registered etc) it said create site, page was black except for normal header links at the top, so i clicked create site.
How do we know, if our site has been migrated (or not)? Is there some kind of information popping up?

I assume we will receive another email when it's completed (today??).
We will have all of your data imported by the end of this week (8/16) and will send you a follow up email once your site's information has been updated.
