Guild Launch News
SNEAK PEAK: Game Tools & AOC Armory Functionality
Next week we will be releasing a new content area for many of our games called "Game Tools". This page will list a series of tools available for your game. Things like:
Talent Calculators for WoW
Zone Maps
Age of Conan Armory Feat Cacluator
(http://www.conanarmory.com/)
Eve Star Maps
Much Much More...
This area is intended to provide quick access embedded in an internal frame to specific tools available for a given game. This way you can stay on your guild site and use the tools.
Obviously, there are many sites with news and such about various games, but this area will be specific to tools that are focused functionality, not general info sites. If you have any links or can point us to any items like this for your game. We are all ears.

I'm not sure how it would be managed.. but I usually go off-site to find addons -
curse, wowace, wowinterface? ... etc. Almost like reinventing the wheel. But. I'll toss it out there.
another tool we have started to use is Be Imba
http://be.imba.hu/
Before moving the guild launch, we utilized the addon group calendar, which had a web page (addon) package, so you could upload that UI for your website. The launch calendar is great, but folks are bummed there's no ingame calendar/sign-ups. If your writers..are.. bored.. well..
also used rpg outfitter a lot - I often reference back to it for the officer and public notes while not in game.
hmm. I can't think of anything else at the moment....
oh.. we also use the armory a lot... since not everyone uses the addon.

We use BeImba also. Very handy.
Another good one along those lines is WowJutsu.
WowJutsu shows how you rank versus other raiding guilds on your server:
http://www.wowjutsu.com/us/ysera/index_alliance.html
Or you can view for details on just your guild:
http://www.wowjutsu.com/us/ysera/Prime
Like you, I'm not sure what's possible here. I'd get some utility simply from being able to add some links to the page for downloading mods.

How about some more work on EQ2-specific content? It seems from my searches on the internet and on guild launch, that WOW dominates the add-ons and support. I understand the numbers are with WOW, but it seems they have most of the essential stuff already. Any additional content would be nice, but not necessary.
I'd like to see more EQ2 essential stuff like raid dkp systems tweaks. It would be nice to take all the WOW stuff in the site and work it so it can be used by EQ2 guilds on their site.
Just a thought

Rapid Raid fully works for EQ2 without any tweaks at all. Except for the mod based imports *which EQ2 doesn't support*. The hang up on mod based imports isn't that we don't support it for EQ, it's that EQ doesn't support mods. However, we do now have a published XML format on the import page that you can use for any game at all.
If you have some specifics for EQ2 features then we can look into them, but Mod support is what makes the WoW functionality much more accessible. Writing a mod for WoW is very straightfoward, and for other games similar functionality would be a much more difficult undertaking due to the *games lack of support* for the functionality.
As far as this specific feature that we are adding, do you know of any tools that are available for EQ2 that would be appropriate?

Frankly, I'm not sure where everyone gets the feature envy from, because it's unfounded.

I think its the high population of WoW players on most of the guild hosting sites. The fact that WoW supports mods to an extent and is a well established game meaning that you were able to give us a few extra features like the WoW specific RSS feed. But in the end what I believe it boils down to is that we are all greedy and want more regardless of what game we play. Even I had a pang of envy at the new AoC templates and I don't even really use the ready made templates
How will these pages be opening Stephen? Will it be like a custom page using iframe? or just a link?
