Site Inconsistencies - Hitting Guild Launch Homepage
Greetings Everyone,
We are experiencing an issue with a 3rd party component of our webservers that is causng sites to go to the Guild Launch homepage intermittently. I believe that as of now I have the software stable and functioning by restarting the servers and given the long period of time since the last restart the restart should put things back on a solid footing. I believed that this issue was resolved this morning, but it seems to have errored again. I did not do a full restart of the web software this morning so I took that extra step this second time.
I am working with the software vendor to figure out what the issue is and the long term solution to keep this from happening again. I'm looking through server logs to find out the exact nature of the issue and see if they have an update that will solve it.
Our servers have been rock solid for months, years in fact. We do seem to be having an issue right now that I am working on, but this is in no way a typical occurence and is quite out of the blue.
I appreciate your patience and understanding while we work to fix this issue. We will have this resolved and operation back to normal as quickly as we are able.

UPDATE 8:10 PM
The servers are fully operational now. The software vendor believes they have an update that will solve this rare issue that caused the failure and we have added extra monitoring to detect if this happens again.
We now believe that the second failure today was due to not restarting the server and the error state still existed even though the servers appeared to be operating correctly. Since we have now restarted the server, we do not expect this issue to happen again between now and the time we update the software.
I will be installing the new software later in the week during a maintenance window. The install should not involve any downtime, but will be done in a maintenance window to ensure it is a smooth upgrade.

Thanks for the information. Had a bit of a panic attack when I realized the guildsite wasn't up and runnin'.
And I'll just take this opportunity to say thanks for a great forum/website solution, and as far as I know there hasn't been a single word of complaint from my guild so far.
