While it pains me to have anything to do with Apple products this Dashometer app is rather good (and the author is my brother in-law who ironically is a software engineer at Nokia in the day time). Never get lost again! So support your extended Sunfall family it's only $0.99 and regularly updated (in true software developer style).

Use the Proximity Alarm to escape from zombies, or simply to find a previously bookmarked location! Great for finding your car, or geocaching.

OVERVIEW
Tap the Start button to start the GPS, and a signal indicator will appear. Tap the signal indicator to stop the GPS. Accuracy depends on both signal strength (shown as 1-5 bars) and speed. At walking speeds four bars are needed for accurate speed display, but three bars are enough for accurate distance measurement.
MODES
Tap to switch display mode:
◆ Compass (Degrees, Cardinal Directions)
◆ Altitude (Current, Minimum, Maximum)
◆ Speed (Current, Average, Trip Average, Maximum, Pace)
◆ Distance (Trip, Odometer, Travel Alarm, Proximity Alarm)
◆ Time (Moving, Stopped, Travel Alarm, Proximity Alarm, Countdown Timer)
Long-tap Compass to control whether calibration alerts are shown.
Long-tap an alarm to jump directly to the Alarm Settings menu.
GPS COORDINATE
Tap the Coordinate to:
◆ Show & Track current location on map
◆ Add bookmark
◆ See journey summary
◆ Share location details (open in iOS Maps App, or share via email, SMS, or pasteboard)
Long-tap the Coordinate to change the display style.
SETTINGS
Tap the Gear icon to show the settings menu, from where it is possible to:
◆ Customize display (HUD, orientation, font, colours)
◆ Control Alarms & Speed Alerts
◆ View, create, and edit Bookmarks
◆ View saved Trips
◆ Control route recording

Long-tap the Gear icon to jump directly to the Display Settings menu.
RESET
Long-tap the Odometer in order to reset it.
Long-tap Speed to reset minimum & maximum values (related to altitude and speed) or to reset trip information (and stop active alarms).
