Well I'm a fucking headfone snob.
Sennheiser PC350 is the only set you should even look at all others should bow to it and kiss its headfoney feet.
Seriously £105, shit for music or movies but worth every fucking penny with full 5.1 positional audio a clarity like I have never seen in 10 years of owning top class headsets.
I love these so much I bought 2 spare sets for when these eventually break.
I do actually own those exact ones you ended up buying also. I use them for MMO's when I mainly play music rather than listen to the fucking annoying MMO songs or ambience, do the job decently as a all rounder but I'd cry if I had to use them in a FPS.

well ive been using the Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset for some quite some years now .. found them dead cheap in a store when i was looking around. And tbh the sound is very good. Very "wide" sound and deep bass. (lost the mic tho during a move) Not what I expected for that low price and is why i am still using them today.

ye they quite good for the price, plus i been usin onboard sound for ages now so bout a sound blaster audigy for 20 quid along with hedaphones n it seems alot better, roll on swtor cant fukin wait
