Thrash Lisaro"]i7's are really a waste of money for gaming no games take advantage of them and you paying for something you just dont need. Unless you do 3D rendering or HiDef video production then an i7 is a waste.
You would be better server with an i5 and more powerful video card.
I agree about laptop's tho throw away technology so stick to a desktop for long term gaming.
I do not think I7's are a waste of money for gaming - I make an investment now for the future as games develop becoming more and more demanding on ones system. It makes sense to me to buy more than just needed parts for ones GPC in the present if you are investing a large amount of cash to cope with the next evolution in game development without having to reinvest again too soon. That's my system though.

think it was about 1.3k plus vat - but Alienware/Dell will custom build your desired specs so can vary according to your choices. Mine included 4 years warranty and home service too.

OKAY, so I've gone onto Dell and made my own Alienware computer. These are the specs:
Included in your system:
English Windows® 7 Home Premium (64 BIT)
Intel® Core™ i7-3820 (Four Core, 10MB Cache 3.60GHz)
4GB GDDR5 NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 690
8192MB (4x2GB) 2133MHz DDR3 Quad Channel
3TB SATA 6Gb/s 7,200rpm Hard Drive
1TB SATA 6Gb/s (7200RPM) 32MB Cache
DVD+/-RW (Read/Write) 24x
Integrated HDA 7.1 Dolby Digital capability
No Security/Anti-Virus Protection
1 yr Next Day In-Home Hardware & Premium Software Phone Support
No Accidental Damage Protection
CPU Liquid Cooling
Alienware Aurora Matte Black 875W Chassis
Accessories
Alienware Glow Avatar
Plasma Purple
Display Not Included
Alienware Optical Mouse
Alienware Multimedia Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY)
Steam® Factory Installed and Steam Extra Content.
Does that sound good? Is it worth paying an extra £450 for an i7 six-core 3.9ghz processor? Or is it fine as it is?

Hmmm, it does look good, but the chassis is horrible!
Why is it so cheap? It doesn't make sense that they're using the newest graphics card on the market and mega processing power ...

The large companies charge a premium for their products.
I have used OCuk for many years and they are a top notch supplier, I am sure if you spoke to them you could arrange for a different case .
